Thread page numbers glitch?

Never a problem, Muzz. Did you see/hear any of the music from Moor Park yesterday (tomorrow where you are 😉)? It was very good.

Nah mate, not seen any of it. I don't like any of the bands/artists to be honest, although if I was there I would have caught the Sugababes and Kim Wilde, lol.

I've just seen that I've dropped around 2k posts and about 1.5k likes over the last few days.

What's going on @JK?

Hi @jakehake etc.

For the last week or two, whenever I have done a screengrab on my phone and pasted the image, it has done something weird (despite me not doing anything different) pasting a big black rectangle, with the image I want appearing quite small in the top left hand corner of that rectangle.

Just one day in this recent period, I used my MacBook - and exactly the same happened from that device.

Until today, I hadn’t noticed the same issue from anyone else- but then I saw a @wld post with the big black rectangle (see post below)

Are you able to shed any light on what’s happening? Thanks a lot.

No, I did what I’ve always done and it resulted in that black surround.

Does the black border appear when you attach/paste or only after you post?

It appears as soon as it’s pasted. This is what it looks like just after hitting “Paste” (obvs you need to look only at the top left quartile here)

Have changed a setting, if you wan't to give it another go.

Thanks JK - but still no good. I just logged onto my MacBook... and used Chrome to try that (which in the past has solved some internet-related problems)... but still the same.

So that's the same problem when:

copying and pasting on my phone using my standard iPhone software
copying and pasting on MacBook using Safari
copying and pasting on MacBook using Chrome

Strange that it's not happening to other people - except @wld (not sure whether it's happening all the time for him... it is happening every time for me). Any other evidence from you @wld ? Are you on Apple devices?

How old are your Apple devices?

Anything Apple pre 2020 may have issues following the latest IOS update.

The oldest files I've created on my macbook are dated Jan 2021, so presumably was new that Chrismtas. Phone was new in April 2022. They were brand new, though I wouldn't have bought the very latest most expensive releases - but I didn't get ridiculously outdated ones either - they'll have been midrange price at the time.

It seems unlikely that they're too old, though I guess not impossible. But I did think the software on the phone and the macbook were relatively independent of one another, and this problem has arisen at the same time on both. And these don't seem like really old devices. I'm really surprised we haven't seen the same issue from other people if that's it... although perhaps the number of users regularly pasting pictures isn't that big. Dunno !!

I’ve just experimented with a few photos and it only happens when copying a photo from Twitter - copying a whole tweet or a photo from elsewhere doesn’t result in the black border.

Mine’s an IPad and less than a year old.

If it’s happening when cutting and pasting does the same happen if you save the picture to your device then upload it as an image instead?

Thanks. For me, it seems to be any screen grab - wherever I grab it from.

@JK Ages ago, there was some discussion about having a “Cancel” button next to the “Post Reply” button. From memory, that was about the time when you were doing a massive upgrade, and it went onto the back burner. If I am correct about that memory, is it possible now to have another look?
There is a Cancel button and a Save button there if I have hit ‘edit’… So if I then realise I’ve messed up… No problem. Cancel and it’s, well, Cancelled!
But when we write a new post and want to change our minds, there’s no cancel button. We need to select all the text, delete it, and replace it with a full stop or something, otherwise the forum “helpfully” remembers everything we just deleted and reinstates it! This is obviously really clumsy.
Presumably it’s not as simple as I think but (to me) we seem to be missing a fundamental function of a most basic user interface. Sorry to bother you! Would be worth having a look at if you have time.

Delete draft then refresh and should be gone. On a smaller screen it might be hidden under 3 dots towards the right but the symbol(floppy disk) is the same
