Time for action - An open letter to Preston North End FC (Meeting & responses added).

In today's match report, BBC Sport say that last week Heckingbottom was called 'boring' by fans. This is nowhere near the truth, as the signatories to the letter actually stated that PH and SMc had their full support. Nothing but mischief making by the national broadcaster, of whom we're entitled expect more. Not difficult to see who's side they're on!

One of our team spoke to BBC Sport and they decided to totally disregard everything that was said.

Sadly it didn't suit the narrative they wished to put out with that story.

The old man hired Ridsdale. The incumbents are the most hands-off owners ever, putting to shame the most remote, faceless, overseas, tax-avoiding ownership group. They also know jack about football.

I'm sure they'd take advice from within the game on a suitable management structure post-Ridsdale, and end up with actual football people this time.

You'd hope so, but the right people don't come cheap - are they willing to pay what's needed? Could they hire them for the same money they pay Ridsdale?

The mad thing is, they actually are. Young senior recruitment guys at decent clubs aren't paid a fortune. You could literally appoint an Oli O'Connell (currently at Norwich)/James Beet (currently sidelined at PNE) figure as DoF AND a former business owner to do the leaky roof shite and his current wage would cover that.

Is Joe Savage out of work? Doesn't he have experience of it?

I couldn’t agree more.

It’s clear that the club is being held back by outdated systems and a lack of forward-thinking processes, which are stifling our progress. What’s needed is a comprehensive top-to-bottom review, linked to a coherent business plan that prioritises the key areas of concern. Statements like “spending money on X would harm the playing budget” are short-sighted and indicative of limited vision at the top.

It’s baffling that the leadership doesn’t grasp the long-term benefits of investing in infrastructure and systems that could generate profits further down the line. They often talk about the need to “be smart,” but where’s the evidence of that? Establishing an effective scouting system to identify transfer targets and young prospects early, and creating a proper pathway for youth development—such as a fully functioning U23 squad—could significantly reduce the financial burden on the club’s owners.

At present, we have parts of the puzzle in place (MRKT Insights?) but fall short in other key areas (U23s / Academy, contract renewals), which negates any potential advantages. Ridsdale likes to present us as “outside the box” and “doing things differently,” but in reality, it’s simply a lack of ideas coupled with penny-pinching at every level.

The club needs vision and investment, not excuses.

In much the same way as I could never get all that arsed about getting rid of Lowe I can’t get too excited about the idea of getting rid of Ridsdale. With the constraints from above any new person would very possibly struggle just as much and we’d just end up complaining about a slightly different scent of shit.

That sounds like the "Better the devil you know than that devil you don't know" arguement.
( Which is simply the 'safety first' argument )

But in relation to Ridsdale, we are talking about someone who doesn't learn from the mistakes he has made in the past, as he continues to repeat those same mistakes again & again, etc. Plus I believe sometimes he doesn't realise he's made a certain mistake, and that mistake is repeated by him, with seemingly no remorse or apologies.

I wonder if Moysie would be interested?

It's certainly a name to conjure with for a gentleman who might want a change of football direction, after being a Premier League Manager for many years . Obviously he has a genuine deep affection for the Club, too.

Wanted to gauge opinions on the letter today from fellow fans by asking the people I travel over with and the fans who sit around me and I was shocked at the opinion of the majority.

Is it worth following this?

Cheers for this, see what shite comes back. Here's what I submitted.

In the article, it states that Preston North End fans labelled team manager Paul Heckingbottom "boring". This statement is presumably linked to an open letter from fans groups to the current club owner.

At no point within the open letter did fans make any claim, in fact the letter makes a clear point that both the team manager and his assistant have the full support of the fans.

The article, as with recent comments raised by Radio Lancashire, are a distortion of what has unfurled in recent days - and should be construed as bias towards the club ownership and their employees.

It’s not. Change is clearly badly needed. I just don’t think focusing on Ridsdales removal will be the way to get it. The whole thing needs knocking down and rebuilding from ground up.

I really don't think Ridsdale gives a second thought about he actions and results, his track record prior to PNE just emphasises this, as long as he is getting a wage, expense account and EFL elite status he will never ever see any fault in what he does, he will blame owners re funding while revelling in the gullibility of fans, owners, managers and players.

Classic narcissist behaviour. Never wrong and always someone else to blame.
