Bloody loved Tepi, the mad bastard. He was crap but he was great entertainment.
Was trying to find a clip of the time he just let the ball go under his foot during a passback. Such a howler that it ended up on GMTV the next day.Bloody loved Tepi, the mad bastard. He was crap but he was great entertainment.
I remember the wave of depression that came over me whenever I saw Tepi on the teamsheet instead of Lucas (or "Leadboots" as Shaky used to call him).
Can't find the offending clip, but did see a wonderful clip of him clearing out a Wigan player and conceding a penalty. Vintage Teps!

Pretty sure that match was at home to Wigan in 1999/2000 season. Lucas had started the game but had got sent off after conceding a penalty. Was trying to find a clip of the time he just let the ball go under his foot during a passback. Such a howler that it ended up on GMTV the next day.

That was followed by the Tepi howler.
All in all a disastrous game that we lost 4-1.
Another point of note was that Jason Roberts scored after 30 seconds on what was his debut.
Overall it was a great season and we won the league one championship with 95 points.
We got even with Wigan that season as well winning 1-0 in the very first game at the DW Stadium.
Michael Jackson got the winner in front of 6800 of us.
His League starts to clean sheets ratio was the best* for PNE since WWII up until Carlo "Going South" Nash.
It was twice as good as Lucas' record behind the same defence.
* Based on a minimum number of League starts (15 or 20 or so).
People just remember the odd howler and forget the rest.

Utter garbage.
Scored one spectacular goal at Leicester in a 1-0 win. Apart from that contributed the square root of sweet FA.
His transfer fee (not big by today's standards, but verging on our record back then) unfortunately dictated the expectations, and I was one of those guilty of thinking he'd be a world beater.
The absolute thunderbastard finish into the roof of his own net to knock us out of the cup was an interesting decision.
He was the definition of a luxury player; only the luxury failed to transpire. It was like being served a bowl of shit at the Ritz.

Cleared one off the line against QPR in stoppage time, when we made the play offs in 2009. Not a lot to show for 4 years and the big fee we paid for him.Scored one spectacular goal at Leicester in a 1-0 win. Apart from that contributed the square root of sweet FA.

Should have won that day. Whaley missed a penalty.
Portsmouth then went onto win the thing
I do this via our X account but thought would be interesting to do it here as well to get ya'lls thoughts for those who do not use X or similar haha. First one is below!👇
Fast
( In fact according to " The Broon " - the quickest lad there at the time ) - but definitely-
Not Furious

Always hated that talented, down lazy lackadaisical bar steward......
Last known job ....the Ladies Footballing Coach at the mighty Cheltenham Town.
I remember there was someone on the Pavillion at one end ( me at the other ) and the non-playing players at the other in a small knit-
- and someone shouting-out ( I believe genuinely, NOT sarcastically ) - "Come on Darren, good lad ! [ & a couple claps ] in an encouraging manner .....
Carter just gave the guy the foulest look you can imagine- IE if looks could kill the bloke would have dropped down dead.
A guilty action, imo.
I bet he tried super-hard in training - but such more feckless **** I could not imagine.
Stole a wage.....

Lonergan absolutely nowhere to be seen.
Hahaha.
He never was great with crosses into the box was he.
That OG is even worse than I ever thought it was. Chaplow (facing the right way) is about to clear it and Carter literally takes it off his toe and lashes it into the top bin.
What a clown.
