Random PNE Player of the Day

Random PNE Player of the Day

I was at that game at Carrow Road. It was a back pass from Alexander which, according to Tepi, hit a bump and stayed low meaning his boot went over the ball. I hadn’t been living in Norfolk for long so not too many people knew I was a North Rnd fan.

I watched him quite a few times when he broke into Doncaster Rovers first XI before I moved down to Norfolk.

For a young lad you could see that he had something about him and was one of their main players all be it Rovers were in the bottom division, I cannot remember if it was Division 4 or League 3 or whatever it was called then

Was trying to find a clip of the time he just let the ball go under his foot during a passback. Such a howler that it ended up on GMTV the next day.

I remember the wave of depression that came over me whenever I saw Tepi on the teamsheet instead of Lucas (or "Leadboots" as Shaky used to call him).

Can't find the offending clip, but did see a wonderful clip of him clearing out a Wigan player and conceding a penalty. Vintage Teps!
That was Lucas. He got sent off. Tepi came on. Yes equally entertaining. Good times.

After a slow start he quickly became a fans favourite. Got that very late goal against Birmingham in the play off semi in 2001 which led to extra time, a penalty shootout triumph and a trip to Cardiff.
Always showed commitment and is generally remembered fondly.
Decent partnership with Gregan

Shabba.

Was absolutely pilloried at the start, I remember one of the fanzines showing him being carried off on a stretcher with the caption “Every cloud”. He did win the fans round as you say.

Whoever produced that fanzine was thick and ignorant and should have been ashamed and embarrassed. Even if he had been poor (which he was wasn’t) only a moron would make a comment like that.

Rankine, in his 1st season, suffered from "flat feet" and it was only at the end of that, admittedly pitiful 1st forage, that the symptom was discovered and he had special insoles made for his boots.

I wasn't a fan at 1st but he won me round in that 2nd season.

He was a fairly well known player with about 300 games under his belt when he signed so expectations were high.

To say he didn’t hit the ground running would be an understatement (and possibly medically inaccurate given the circumstances you describe!)

Since Carter and Broomes, the quality of the players has improved significantly. Again, as with Davey and Rankine, I liked Ashy.

Correct.

Pie Muncher.
Saville will be the one that saves me.

When I was getting the Christmas decorations out I found a bin bag full of the entire back catalogue of Pie Munchers. Absolutely brilliant. Pertinent to this thread is a match review quote that “Tepi reacted with all the agility of a man who’s dick was nailed to the floor”.
