Matchday Thread Bolton Wanderers v PNE | 15.08.26 | KO:12:30pm | Championship

Created enough changes to win two games and everyone’s gonna come on here blaming the manager 😂
I don't think the blame can lay with anyone else. That team selection was a piss take and took him till 64 minutes to make any changes. Bolton are shite but you can't set up and play like that for that amount of time and expect to win. Horror show from Hecky.

Poor from Iversen to parry it but Lindsay is so incredibly static for that first goal.

Watches Dalby just run past him.

It’s one of those that, whilst neither is at fault for the goal, it’s still not good defending from the central defenders.

Storey could do more to impact McAtee’s initial effort, Lindsay is too slow to react. Neither are big errors at all, but better defenders defend that situation differently

Let's face it, as soon as we saw the starting line-up, we knew.

Hopefully we get a repeat of 2024 and a new manager after one match.

Leroy looked miles more comfortable on the ball than our other midfield option. Reminded me a little of Gallagher.

To be fair his team choice was shocking, what the hell was he thinking? I’m no tactical genius but bloody hell even I could see the potential for absolute tripe and it’s exactly what we got.

Mind, as I said it was one game so not going to get too upset we still have a lot of positives to look forward too.

Special mention for Flappy Dan as well.

The team were collectively shite but he literally cost us that game.
Think the whole team play with fear and safety in mind, think that’s down to Hecky, to much caution again today.

Whilst Hecky is very presentable and a good talker, I don’t think he is the man to turn things around.

Can anyone actually see Hecky being here come Christmas?

Depends how long the takeover takes!

Honestly though, I think there's every chance results are pretty good by then once the new signings are settled and starting games.

Don't see team Hemmings potting him and taking on that extra expense if they're about to sell up.

I hope we never have to start Hughes, Lyndsey, Pol and Thompson again. That starting 11 was dreadful. A blind man could see Pol was getting beat every time, should have been hooked at HT. I've always reserved judgement on Hecky as he's been working with one hand tied behind his back with the lack of funds but no excuse now.

He literally didn't. Obviously two errors in the first fifteen cost us one goal. End of.

There are at least half a dozen other players who were more to blame for that defeat than him.

It isn’t Lindsey’s fault we didn’t get a point, we lost the game first half with that line up. The loss is down to PH, he should always put out our strongest XI to start a game rather than use some who are no longer Championship standard.

Anyway, all is not lost with still 45 games to go and better players to join and start, I.e. Mills and McConnell plus the takeover to be put in place. So although I am not happy about today’s result and our starting line up the future IS bright, the future is WHITE.

Some thoughts:

Awful selection of the starting 11. I understand Leroy not starting but if we are going with a 4 at the back, Erabi needs to start and Valentin should be lucky to make the bench. Offiah 100% should have started that game and that cannot be argued otherwise, unless he wasn't fit enough to. Looked absolutely fine though.

Iversen stinker. I think he's a good goalkeeper overall but shouts of him being best in the league are ridiculous. Not just the error but the kicking was appalling. Can forgive the kicking if he's making saves but he was shaky all game.

Just as frustrating as booting the ball out of play...offsides. 7 of them. Absolutely ridiculous from Lang and Osmajic.

Osmajic. Awful. Had the chance to redeem a lackluster performance and absolutely bottled it.

Lindsay. Fuck me...it's like groundhog day. Defending, progressing the ball already dogshit but then yet again 50p heads a MASSIVE opportunity to rescue a point. I'd say it's unbelievable but it's actually hilariously predictable. Been here about 3 years too many. Get fucking shut.

Touched on it already but Pol with one of the all time stinkers. Offers literally nothing. Also get fucking shut. Surplus to requirements. I think that hamstring tear has probably finished him at this level. He was clinging on to the level to begin with.

First half was an abysmal showing. Had no way of progressing the ball.

Now the positives - that changed with the subs. The problem is the game was almost and probably should have been beyond us by the time they came on.

Leroy looked like exactly what we need, Offiah infinitely better than Pol, Small quite lively playing on the wing, Vuk assist and Erabi looks the real deal. At least we adored a good goal and had enough chances to equalise in the end.

It's not panic stations for me yet. It's still a half put together squad, despite the recent backing. Some of these players have outstayed their welcome and need replacing ASAP.

Mills, another winger/forward, a better centre back and ideally a left back required.
