What is an exile? From Rio to Rotherham and Brisbane to Barrow, passionate PNE fans are based over land and sea in all corners of the world. Maybe you are looking for someone to share the love of PNE face to face, online or just keep in touch with fans around the world, or maybe you would like to share your ideas with the club and everyone in PR1?

Two exiled fans Neil and Ian (members of the PNE Fan Advisory Network) working with Matt, PNE's Supporters Services Lead, are looking for your views about how we can support and bring all our exile groups closer together. We aren’t looking to replace all the amazing work that already happens, the aim is to help existing groups flourish, give exiled supporters a stronger voice, and create a route for sharing ideas and raising issues with the club.

But we need your help! If you are interested in knowing more about how you can share your views and joining us in an initial online sharing of ideas then please register your contact details here by emailing pneexiles@gmail.com. You can also read more about the work at PNE Exiles | Preston North End exile fan clubs

You're stretching it here, IMHO.

"give (giving) exiled supporters a stronger voice, and create a route for sharing ideas and raising issues with the club."

Exiled means expelled, booted out of, against your will ...in this case England. They haven't been exiled, they've chosen to emigrate, fair enough, I can understand why.

However, if you live in a different country, you can't expect to have the ears of the club's owners, surely, as you don't attend and never will, unless you visit on holiday, possibly.

I know you'll all welcome my thoughts, so please don't forget to add to my considerable collection of face palms and "up yours" emojis !

The largest football brands in the world all enjoy additional financial clout thanks to exiled supporters.

The more exiled supporters feel invested in the club, despite being in another country, the more everyone benefits.

If we are ambitious for success, then there can be no place for parochial thinking.

We're not an international club. We don't play in Europe, if we did I wouldn't have made the comment. There's nothing wrong with living abroad and being a fan from afar but surely they can't have the same influence as those at home supporting and watching.

How can you justifiably raise issues with the club when you live in Tasmania ?

Sorry, but this really is arguing for the sake of arguing.

Firstly, the terminology isn't mine.

The club themselves have literally launched this today under the title "Calling All PNE Exile Supporters".

It also has a long history among North End fans. PNE Whites in Exile existed specifically for "PNE fans living away from home", so the dictionary lecture is somewhat redundant.

More importantly, you've completely missed the point of what is being worked on.

Nobody has suggested that an exile should have more influence than somebody attending Deepdale every week, nor that they should have some personal hotline to the owners. The idea is simply to give North End supporters living around the UK and overseas a way of staying connected, organising themselves, sharing ideas and raising issues relevant to them with the club.

And the claim that because somebody lives abroad they "don't attend and never will" is just nonsense. Historically, Whites in Exile organised meets around away games, and there are North End supporters living all over the country and overseas who still attend matches whenever circumstances allow.

Supporter engagement should be about including more North End supporters, not finding increasingly arbitrary reasons to exclude them.

Of all the things to take issue with, creating a better connection between PNE and supporters who live away from Preston really is right up there in the shit-take stakes.

Given the long history of the various exile (both UK based and International) groups that had relationships with the club it's a shame that it took those relationships to kind of breakdown and lose their original meaning to get to this point. But a step in the right direction to resurrect it in some form.

Have the club provided any of the contacts from those groups they previously liaised with to give them this update?

Sorry, but this really is arguing for the sake of arguing.
No, just pointing out some facts. This is a forum, not a classroom.

I know but it's wrong terminology. However, it will do.

Who at the club? I would have thought there were more pressing issues.
PNE Whites in Exile existed specifically for "PNE fans living away from home"
No problem with that

I usually do... on here

What's currently stopping them?
Historically, Whites in Exile organised meets around away games,
You mean they all fly to England to meet? That's some effort, bowler hats off to them !
Supporter engagement should be about including more North End supporters, not finding increasingly arbitrary reasons to exclude them.
Who said they should be excluded? Are they excluded now ? That's nonsense and you know it

If you read my post, it doesn't warrant all that diatribe but I'm sure it will attract plenty of your boys to back you up ! How about you go and have one of Sid's favourite biscuits (garibaldi)? It might calm you down...or Jake could waft you with one of my facepalms !

Aren't our potential new owners also from the other side of the world?

The page still exists....shame the Pub list stopped being published over time, used to be useful just to know of a pub near grounds to refer back to

You’ve basically made my point for me.

You said people living abroad can’t expect to have the ear of the club because they don’t attend, then ask who said they should be excluded.

Nobody said they’re stopped from doing anything now. The point is to give exiled supporters a proper, organised route to stay connected with each other and the club.

It’s also worth pointing out that most of the work on this has been done by two supporters on the FAN who actually live away from Preston and are directly affected by the issue. They’ve put the effort in because they think it would be useful.

And “more pressing issues” is a bit of a cop-out. The club can deal with more than one thing at once.

This really is just arguing for the sake of it.

Fans can live abroad for lot’s of reasons, not just because they chose to emigrate.
I have 2 nieces in Perth WA who were very young when they emigrated. They are both PNE fans and one is an avid fan, who travels over regularly and also buys lots of merchandise.
I’m also in touch with a couple who are Bermuda citizens that travel over for games, in fact they were here for the game on Saturday.
So whilst we don’t have a massive global fan base, we do have a global fan base, (as do others) and initiatives that make them feel closer to the club, can only be beneficial.
It’s bizarre that anyone would want to question it.

Not been able to put members on ignore as the site owner must be a real pain in the arse 😄

Coincidentally the guy from Bermuda has just messaged me. He’s currently in Amsterdam, but is flying back in tomorrow for the Watford game. I’m taking my grandson and friend, so will meet up with him.

The pub list was the main reason I joined! If that could be resurrected somehow that would be brilliant.

Having the ear of the club is surely more likely if you live in this country. Except if you're Amr Zedan or an ex player or manager.

Are you seriously trying to tell me that those who run Preston North End are going to pay attention to what someone living in the outback has to say, or the North Pole ? Or are some regions out of bounds? Do you see my point, Vicar?
It’s also worth pointing out that most of the work on this has been done by two supporters on the FAN who actually live away from Preston and are directly affected by the issue. They’ve put the effort in because they think it would be useful.
Would you like to explain what exactly these exiles have achieved ? I'm not knocking it, I'm just curious. And if any of them are seriously rich ..I'm sure we'll all be very grateful for any contributions to the club.

You would post that, wouldn't you, just to piss me off ! 😉

Surely there's other issues to get worked up about. If you are not an exile then it's not going to affect you.

If you wanted to disenfranchise an exile and make me feel unwelcome then you’re sure doing a good job of it.

I suppose I’m a shit fan because I don’t live on Deepdale Road or something.

I'm not worked up. I have to respond when I'm addressed, that's all.

Are you wanting to take offence or something ? Don't read my posts (put me on ignore)
