Daniel Iversen's form

Daniel Iversen's form

I've said this before, but every time the ball is anywhere near his feet I panic a little. His kicking and general distribution (except at QPR last season) has been dreadful for a long time, and is getting worse with every match.

Always been a massive fan of his, but it really is about time he stepped aside for a few games to let Nicholls have a chance. Not to keep a clean sheet since 04/01/26 is evidence enough that he needs to be given a rest.

Can we stop with this he can’t do any worse when they clearly could. He may show everyday in training he is a worse keeper then Iversen hence desperate the mistakes and poor kicking he keeps starting.

It is like the old football saying, you are a better player when not playing
The Player is off form, he's been a good keeper and will probably prove to be again, but no Player who is off form should be an automatic choice.

Nicholls might not do any better but to invert your point - at the moment he clearly could!
Any Player has to be given the chance to grasp an opportunity when injury of lack of form dictates.
Iverson is clearly off form, Nicholls deserves the chance. IMO.

It's not our call though, if Alexander sticks with him he needs to recapture that previous form pretty quickly, if Nicholls gets the nod its up to him to grasp the opportunity.

Was sat in the Alan Kelly on Saturday about 35 minutes before kickoff - watched Daniel practicing his kicking trying to find the reserve keeper who was stood well up field ( probably where Erabi intended to base himself during the game ) to be honest his kicking was awful and it didn’t improve during the game - highly rate Daniel but he’s got to improve his kicking

I too rate him and think his shot stopping is probably at least as good as any other 'keeper in the Championship but his distribution and kicking has certainly deteriorated this season and some ( not me ) gave him pelters for it last season.
I can only think it's that part of his game that's stopped him playing at the top level.

Bolton, Charlton, QPR, Lincoln, Millwall...

"Any other keeper" could have done better with the piss weak pea-rolled efforts resulting in our defeats.

I think Dan needs to take a spell and some time with a goalkeeping coach to get his confidence back, have to give Nicholls a run in the side now, in form players should take precedence. Starting to look like shay Reid should be promoted onto the bench now at the very least.

He has played better in his time here but the game before last he made two great saves. He needs to help the defence but the defence needs to help him! I back him to come through this spell quickly.

Struggling for any semblance of confidence that is widespread throughout the squad. No point in singling out any player to blame. The club is in disarray, worrying times.

How has he gone from the unbelievable keeper he was last season to the worst in the league.
The answer Mike Pollitt
You can’t really pin the blame at Pollitt when he’s been responsible for Iversen over multiple seasons including ones where he’s been exceptional.

Something is clearly wrong though, he was never great at kicking but it’s been particularly bad and as I mentioned in the match day thread - he seems to be nowhere near any of the goals we’re conceding. He’s not even getting close to saving them.
