We need to proactive in team selection...if we play the same formation and personnel we will be blown away, Alan Irvine needs to be inventive with his selection and throw a spanner into Blackwells plans.
I would drop Sedge, Mellor, Carter and Parkin. In would come Whaley, Nicholson, Brown and Chilvers.
SSL would partner Macca in midfield, Chilvers and Youl at the back, Nicholson and Wallace on the wings and Brown and Whaley up front. Whaleys pace must be used to run at there back four with a shoot on sight policy. I would put Danny mayor on the bench. Am I going mad....your thoughts please.

I think it will be a different game on Monday- Sheff U will be a lot more open, and we'll actually be able to play football, rather than just hoof it.

He asked for my thoughts and got them - in joking form that neatly and comprehensive summed up my views on his suggestion of radical change to the team. Rather different from the repeated foul mouthed abuse previously commneted upon.

Jack Daniels saw the joke:

Whats more I'd play Eddie Nolan in place of Billy Jones and Callum Davidson at left back.Billy has been poor for 2 months. He seems tired to me.

Sadly I don't think there are a lot of options.
Davidson is out, no Williamson, Chilvers and Hart both lacking match practice.
So....Prob line up the same as Friday but with Brown in for Mellor.

I think we should exploit the fact that Sheff Utd will have to come at us and possibly leave themselves open at the back, especially if all square near the final whistle. I think we have the penalty takers to beat them otherwise!

How do Sheff Utd set up at home? 4-4-2 or 4-5-1? Whatever, I think we should start with 4-5-1. My team:

Lonergan

Jones
Mawene
St Ledger
Nolan

Elliot
Sedgwick
McKenna
Carter
Wallace

Brown/Parkin

Subs: Neale, Chilvers, Whaley, Mellor, Brown/Parkin

That line-up could easily convert to a 4-4-2 if need be. Keep it tight for the first half at least-the pressure's on them as the home side-no need for us to be gung-ho. The longer we frustrate them, the more the crowd will become restless, they'll get anxious, and we may nick a goal. Then bring on Chilvers for Elliot and go 5-4-1.

Same for me, but swap Whaley on for Carter, and have Parkin up front.

Yesterday showed we need pace, which Whaley provides. Carter doesn't.

If we can't do it with the team that started on Friday it ain't going to happen. The potential replacements are either suspended, injured or lacking match fitness. At the moment we've got a team but no squad.

Sheff Utd will play 4-4-2 at home, without a doubt.

We were seriously exposed for pace on the wings on friday so I'd drop Sedgwick straight away for Whaley. Whaley has the speed to track Naughton and will also enable Billy to get forward as well as he did against QPR. If Callum is even 75% fit I'd start him in the middle with Mckenna. Also possibly Elliott in for Mellor to try and force their back 4 to play a little, with Parkin & Mellor they had far too much time on the ball on Friday and weren't put under enough pressure. Elliott won't stop running and could force some errors. Just an idea like.

Now this I like. I wouldn't go too defensive, 4-5-1 or 5-4-1. That will just invite pressure, so I'd at the minimum match them i.e. 4-4-2. Apart from our midfield being overrun, therefore resorting to the long hoof, what Sheff Utd did very cannily was target Nolan, and to a lesser degree Jones, by pinging their long balls on to him for Halford to challenge for. Hope Alan noticed that one.
