Utter Rubbish

Utter Rubbish

North End tonight.......Absolute utter rubbish.

youl`s injury and the pairing of knock kneed neil and clumsy chilvers lost the game for me......I have never witnessed a poorer centre half as collins, youl mopped up all his mistakes in the first half but the second hald showed collins up for what he is....fookin bambi on ice. If the rumours are true and its a deal we cant get out of then we the fans owe to our club to hound the charlatan out of the club...embaress the git to leave. playing brown for me was a poor decision as well but it was good to see a clearly unfit tonge shame workshy chaplow into some sort of performance....a draw would have been a fairer result though

we cannot score and dont look like doing admttedly but credit the lads at the back, without them we would be fucked. we start looking good going forwards and things will change but we are a solid outfit, get some pace and it will change.

However dont discredit the whole team because we are shit up front

You cannot just blame the forwards for being ineffective up front who play most of the game with their back towards goal chasing hopeful balls, no width on the pitch little opportunity of wide players getting behind defenders providing quality crosses for the forwards to meet.

good to see the likes of the guv spouting more shite from the comfort of his armchair, fuckin plastic twat of a "fan" if ever i heard one, tell me guv, how many chances did newcastle have tonight, hiw many did we have, and they took their one really good chance (and that was down to jones being to tight on nolan, did harewood or carroll get a sniff, did their argie internationals score, did they fuck and up and untill mawene and then davidson went off they never looked like scoring.
Tonge was superb tonight and chaplow supported him well (should have scored) it made such a change to see the midfiled compete and play the ball on the ground.
Guv do us all a huge favour and fuck right off and take any other miserable twats with you.

I agree with billymac. What's wrong with some PNE fans that they can't recognise a battling display from a team that is probably worth about what Kevin Nolan and maybe Alan Smith combined are worth?

My maths maybe incorrect there, but you get my drift.

North End currently are not one of the top teams in the Championship, that's for sure, but we have just played probably the team that will go up in first place, and to be honest, whilst there was a gap of quality between the two teams, it wasn't enormous tonight.

We had way more chances to score than did Newcastle, and it is taking chances to score that usually defines the difference between teams that win things, and those that don't.........as it did tonight at Deepdale.

Hope we can sign Tonge, looks a decent player.

I just don't some people I really don't. You think we had just lost 0-5 the way some people go on and as billymac said, most never left their front room.

We play like that against Blackpool next week and will get something for sure.

Preston North End Supporters, get a grip, as a team we were taken to the cleaners tonight .

If we were taken to the cleaners how come we didn't lose 4 or 5 nil??

At no time did we look as though we were going to win, never mind get a poilnt.
We looked as if we could sneak a win if not a point until they scored after that we had no idea.

Yes you can, you play attacking football and as a centre forward you back is to the game, you play defensive football..............which we have to..........and as a forward you are watching the game, you have 2 choices, come back and get involved and have midfield runners burst the channels or play off the knock on and use your speed player to run through.

WE HAV'NT GOT ONE!!

Blame lies with them, puts pressure on rest of team, by rights we should have lost by far more, but we are a good defensive outfit, change the front, change the team. But credit the boys at the back

Kevin Nolan claimed a typically predatory 74th-minute winner to fire Newcastle back to the top of the Championship.

Nolan moved the Magpies two points clear of West Brom with a clinical low left-footed drive - his ninth goal of the season - to send the huge army of Magpies supporters into raptures.

Nolan endured a nightmare campaign last season after joining Newcastle in January as he became part of the side that slid out of the Premier League in such dismal fashion.

Yet he is doing his best to ensure Newcastle make an immediate return to the top-flight by recapturing the goalscoring form and drive that once saw him tipped to win full England honours.

Alan Smith, another player who looks back to his best, played a pivotal role alongside Nolan in the middle of the park. The Magpies skipper showed his stomach for the fight remains firmly intact with a fine display.

Defeat was on harsh on Preston, who gave Newcastle several worrying moments but lacked the kind of killer finish Nolan provided.

In the 14th minute, Nolan showed neat footwork to evade the attention of a couple of Preston players and strike a fierce shot from 25 yards that warmed Andy Lonergan's hands. Moments later, Preston midfielder Richard Chaplow engineered the space to drive a neat low shot just wide of Steve Harper's goal from distance.

Michael Tonge, handed a debut in midfield for Preston after joining on loan from Stoke, then slashed a left-foot shot narrowly over the crossbar. For all Newcastle's undoubted class and experience, Preston continued to worry the visiting defence, and in the 17th minute Neil Mellor was afforded the time to rifle a low shot into Harper's midriff at his near post.

The hosts looked particularly dangerous down the flanks and Chris Sedgwick's hanging cross was headed onto the top of the net by fellow winger Paul Parry. Smith then rifled the ball just wide in the 37th minute but, five minutes later, Preston threatened again when Danny Guthrie surrendered possession 35 yards from goal. Chaplow, having spotted Harper off his line, chipped the ball goalwards but his effort sailed just over the crossbar.

Preston were dealt a bitter blow on the stroke of half-time when Youl Mawene was forced off after sustaining medial ligament damage to his right knee.

His replacement was Liam Chilvers, but he was almost caught cold within minutes of the restart when Andy Carroll rifled a low shot just wide.

With 16 minutes remaining, the points went to Newcastle as Guthrie crossed from the right flank and Marlon Harewood showed strength to find Nolan lurking on the left corner of the penalty box. He showed delightful skill to strike a low, left-footed shot into the bottom corner and send Newcastle back to the Championship's summit.

Taken from the soccernet.com website (run by ESPN). Notice how they comment on how well we played in parts and especially on the flanks with Parry and Sedgwick.

+ 1

How anyone can say we were sh*te and 'taken to the cleaners' just beggars belief.

I thought we played well and definitely deserved a point - we were just unfortunate Newcatle took their best chance of the game.

I have just got back and can't believe what some are posting on here. Is it because they watched it on tv and have been listening to sky pundits because the game I saw tonight bears no resemblance to what some are saying. That was one of the better performances from PNE with mid field and defence actually looking quite good at times. Plenty of chances made but I agree that opportunities were wasted especially by Chaplow and Mellor. Overall though I thought we played well enough to deserve at least a point. Smith should have been sent off (on two occassions) and I would like to see the goal again, which whilst well taken, I thought Nolan was originally offside. We made more chances than them and except for the last 10 mins we matched them in workrate if not in skill. Again I say - this was the best performance by PNE (and the fans) in the last 6/7 home matches.

Very pleased for you Brian, continue to enjoy!

Thought you just said you would always be a Northender?

I bet we are not in any relegation dog fight this season or next.

and will get a stuffing at the enemy down the road.

If we play next Monday like tonight it'll be us with the 3 points at the end of the game
