20,000

20,000

Preston average approx 11200 more than Blackpool since the year both clubs were in existence.

I think that just about ends the debate as to who is better. PNE are.

Another way of looking at this issue is that it has been 50 years since PNE's home average exceeded 15,000, whereas Blackpool, during the same period of time have exceeded a 15,000 average during 12 seasons.

Splendid. But will you ever get into the Premier League? 🙂

Selective statistics at best. Quick test against the true numbers would confirm Bogie's hypothesis.

Anyway, it is widely acknowledged that PNE are the best so...

Looking at figures over the past 50 years and you call that "selective". Push off 6pence.

Yes, I would say so, picking a time where PNE were largely on the decline is an excellent way to negate all the times when PNE were so far ahead of Blackpool in attendance terms.

From what I can tell we have information for all possible seasons so there is no justification for not using it.

Probably. And JFYI, one season in the top division over the past 40 years doesn't make you a better club than PNE. You were just lucky in one season to finish in the top six, and unlike PNE when we did it several times, not to come up against the likes of Bolton, West Ham or Leeds.

Had our team that made the play offs under Billy Davies come up against the Nottingham Forest and Cardiff teams that you lot did, we would no doubt have made it to the prem several years ago.

That isn't fact, but it is my opinion.

And Blackpool other than the last three or four seasons have not been on the decline since the early 1970's?

Do you actually know anything about the history of other football clubs other than your own?

Which of course, counts for absolutely nothing. 🙂

Your question was did I think we would EVER get into the premiership. I answered the best way I could, using commonsense.................just to remind you.............EVER is a long long time.

And if Blackpool can do it, then for sure, Preston North End can do it.............no question.

Here is a question for you............do you think that Blackpool will ever become English champions, twice over?
Do you think you will ever win another FA cup to match Preston's two?
Do you think you will ever reach seven FA cup finals?
Do you think Blackpool will ever do the double?
Do you think the time will ever come when you have a winning record v PNE?

I have answered your question, lets see how you go on with those?

Sorry for thinking they got to the Premiership last season and therefore earned themselves two years of higher gates than PNE (though I do think this season will be the last they have that).

From league two to the Premiership is not a decline imo.

Let me explain something............of the 12 seasons that I mentioned Blackpool averaging more than 15,000 since the last time that PNE averaged that number over a full season, 11 came way before they reached the prem.......only the one last year was since they reached the prem. (Sorry, we did average over 15,000 in 1964/64 cup final season).

Like it or not, North End have not averaged 15,000 or higher since their last season in the old division one, way back in 1960/61 season, (other than the cup final and near promotion season of 1963/64).

Now maybe we do have a higher average home gate over the past century or so than Blackpool, but generally speaking, we can't be described as one of the better supported clubs in England. Certainly not in the top 30, possibly not in the top 35, depending upon what timescale is being used.

Blackpool have demonstrated that they are a despicable club by the following -

Relegation from Premier League after only 1 season in which they lost nearly every game

The sale of all of their best players for very little reward.

Their inability to redevelop the stadium to an adequate standard.

Their inability to get more than 5000 home fans per game.

A general disgust around the town that the club refused to pay bonuses due to players. This damaged relations with the simple townsfolk.

Correct. And don't forget, we won the LDV Trophy. Twice. 😎

And, you have more sweaties, smack heads and drag queens living in your town.... something else for you Lashers to be proud of.

I notice you live in a proper town, embarressed by any chance of your teams location ?
