20,000

20,000

Well so much for a massive border invaision.....only 3200 sold as of 12.14 today. This is their biggest game in 10 years.

Posted by roofer32 on PNE v Carlisle boxing day thread, will they even sell 4,000 for their "Derby" even though they have not played us for over 10 years !

To be fair, I think there's be a few more if there were any trains on.

3200 sold by lunchtime today? Is that a prediction? 🙂

A lot of people don't buy until the last day or two, so it looks like they'll easily exceed 4000, which is roughly equal to their average home gate. And, as shaky says, the lack of trains will make a big difference. So an excellent effort, if you ask me !

After Ridsdale's comments, I'd like to revise down my earlier prediction for the total attendance ! 🙁

But, Curtiss, I think the atmosphere will pick up because:

a) The new management team will get some additional backing
b) I will be there - first time at Deepdale this season, much to my regret !!

No that was posted on another thread yesterday by roofer32 as I said in my post. The information was from an article in the Carlisle local paper. Carlisle fans seem to class this game as their Derby and for a team that only gets around 4/5,000 for their home games then 3,500/4,000 is a good following.😀
I bought 3 tickets on Monday, going on with my brother in law and his son who don't go on much these days, so perhaps just like you, people who for what ever reason have not been going on will turn out to boost the gate.
Think my original 20,000 was a bit optimistic😉,but would hope we could get around the 17,000 mark ?

North end should run free or subsidised coaches from Carlisle. Perhaps economics master 6pence could work out if it would be viable?

An Xmas teaser...

On boxing day, coaches will be expensive. Subsidising them would not be viable.

Cattle trucks would be cheaper - and actually they'd be quite appropriate.

I predict a large crowd between 15-18k.

As most would be well over the moon with the above figure the atmosphere will be like it always is - Shite as per, apart from the usual PNE PNE PNE!!

What is it about Lancashire clubs and their poor atmosphere's......

Blackburn, Bolton, Wigan, Blackpool ( apart from their one season in the prem ) North End.

Don't forget the latest gate: 11,500 ish for a team that is on the verge of the playoff places with a chance of the Premier league.......tut,tut, not good enough. Your promotion season saw you with around 7,500/8000 right up to the actual playoff games when all your "lifelong" fans suddenly appeared as if by magic. Why do you think your esteemed chairman is so reticent when it comes to parting with money for the "stadium"? Ha! Stadium...that's a laugh. Sorry lash you are on very soft sand when it comes to arguing about/comparing crowds/stadia with PNE. I mean, can you believe some of the really cerebrally challenged even have the gall to call Deepdale, Dumpdale. Do they keep their eyes shut when going on "Gloomfilled"?

See you next season.........hopefully!!

If PR can deliver the goods as well as he speaks then we will be playing them again next season.😉

I'm certainly more optimistic than I was, although it still won't be easy....regardless of what Surf says. Whilst the teams in this division may not be the best in terms of having good footballers in their ranks, they are very physical and difficult to break down while always posing a threat going forward. Thankfully we have a much tighter defence now so fingers crossed.

I'm usually on with 3 mates but for this match there will be 8 of us. PR made the point tonight that fans through the door paying money helps the budget. If we do our bit, it's then back to the club to invest it wisely.

Drag your relatives and friends out of their xmas torpor and fill the place. Challenge then is to get it rocking and that's where the xmas spirit helps 😛

We have been averaging over 10,000, so if Carlisle bring 5,000 then why with it being a Boxing Day fixture that attracts larger attendances and after tonights performance, then get behind the team and get 15,000 North Ender's on and a gate of 20,000. You never know might make Trevor think of investing in a Transfer kitty if we did.😉

Everybody bring your dad or a visiting relative.
