Even if he did, it would be an absolute embarrassment to name drop him. Can't even say Beckham, based on the footage of the goals he scored, he wore 12 and 4

I’d like to see him get a go as a proper Number 10 playing off a striker with two quick wingers either side. Already showed his scoring and assisting despite playing as a deep playmaker half the timeIf we did shift to a 4-4-2 then I'd like to see Devine given a free role off the left, drifting centrally. He'd run riot. Moran as backup to him, with Lang & Small competing for the RW spot.
We definitely need a versatile Dobbin replacement, too.
He only played 5 games for us …..Even if he did, it would be an absolute embarrassment to name drop him.
Finney and Mooney.I did have a laugh at that myself. Finney is the only name to mention with a link to that number. Literally nobody else of any note.
I'm guessing you're too young to have witnessed Mooney?
Being pedantic, it was 4 1/2 games. 👍He only played 5 games for us …..
Slightly before my time but I do know he was a top player for us and have seen loads of clips. That said, I still wouldn't be mentioning him in the same breath as Finney. That name carries enough weight in world football terms. Most people outside of North End would never have heard of Mooney despite his talent.Finney and Mooney.

Worldwide I agree 100% with you but within the club and its fanbase, then Mooney is the only real logical contender since Finney himself.Slightly before my time but I do know he was a top player for us and have seen loads of clips. Just to correct that... it WAS an absolute embarrassment to name drop him!!
I must have missed that. FFS.Just to correct that... it WAS an absolute embarrassment to name drop him!!
He can still run the game from a wider position, like John Swift did when he was good. It all depends on the freedom he's given by the manager.Devine is an #8 or a #10, but I think he'll develop into a #8.
When you're as good a player as he is, he can do a good job in any position. But given he's got the ability to run an entire match, I wouldn't be putting him out wide.
Yeah, shame we couldn't have had both back though. Bit of a dream team together those two.If the reports are true that Dobbin is signing for Saints for 9 million , then we have got an absolute bargain, although I rate Dobbin IMO Alfie is the better player by some margin.

My memory isn't quite what it was but, I don't recall Mooney playing in the top division, therefore cannot and never should be compared, even remotely, in the same breath as Finney. IMHO of course.

He did.
