Never been his biggest fan, infact as you will note from my previous posts I think he's shit.

But.....

Today he was immense, I watched him break down attack after attack from the Don's. And perhaps played as proper CDM he could be a player this season for us...

Has RL finally figured him out? I hope when he plays this season it is only in this role because for me any other position dose not suit him and he's pointless but as a proper CDM we may just have a player...

I've been beating my head against a wall about Ali for ages. Hopefully finally the manager starts to listen- Defensive midfielder, keep it simple- stop asking him to be an attacking threat- he's not good enough at this level to do so. Let him do the things he's good at and watch him thrive.
 
I've liked him from day one, but think we've struggled to find his best role and maybe his confidence has understandably dipped as a result. Despite 2 goals from Mads I thought McCann was our stand out performer today. Kept everything neat, crisp and effective. Looked comfortable receiving the ball in tight situations and broke up so many of the Aberdeen attacks before they got started. Starting him deep and pushing Whiteman and Mads further forward could transform our team.
 
Whiteman will literally play better as a more rounded centre midfielder, Mckante needs to be played deeper in front of the 2 centre backs so he can be effective on the pitch.
 
Everything in that midfield yesterday looked much more fluid. That’s with one of the youth team in there. Browne and Ledson need to look at that performance.

With regards to McCann I thought he was decent and puts a hell of a shift in. Noticed a bit of a habit he has of if he only just wins a ball and has no time he’ll just blindly whack it anywhere and two or three times that was straight into the centre of the field in our own half. He needs to pack that in.
 
Ali Mcann is a rolls Royce of a midfielder, baffles me how people can seriously say ‘he’s shit’ . He was levels above everyone on that pitch yesterday and dominated midfield and even left their players dead at times with some very smart pivots. He’s also the best tackler and ball winner we have by far, much better than Ledson at at and covers a hell of a lot more ground too.
 
Him pressing from the front then trying to create high up the pitch wasted him. I’d him as the cover infront of the centre halves all day
