I agree but I’d say there’s still a great chance that he’ll improve his passing and shooting skills under PH/SM especially if he’s given a decent run in the advanced position he played yesterday and if the team’s attacking play remains around that level.

Maybe he just needs to improve his composure slightly when those opportunities arise.

I’m sure that most of our players will make some gradual improvements now they’re working under good coaches and playing to clear strategies.

He’s still young too, 25, no where near his prime. He was also in and out under Lowe, who never utilised him correctly. Hecky and McCall obviously see what he brings and use him to his strengths in their game plan
 
If Ali McCann adds goals to his game we won’t see many of them.

He’ll be off to the Premier League in a heart beat in that case.

That is one of the bigger things missing from his game. He could have scored at Burnley and should have scored against Watford
 
I was going to create his own thread but I've seen he has one already.

Amongst the doubt, the inconsistency and the disagreement between processes and players in the club, I hope we can all come together and just recognise the importance of McCann to the team this year.

I'm glad he has his own thread because amongst the mediocrity, the shit performances and the good wins we have had this season, Ali McCann has been Mr Consistent and as well as Kesler Hayden been our stand out player this season so far.

Definitely captain material for the foreseeable future. This bloke deserves so much appreciation and recognition for what he does. Whilst near the top of the pitch we can all agree isn't his strongest outlay, his work rate, his break up of play, his interceptions and tackles and his general leadership in the middle of midfield is a massive part of the reason we are looking up the table and not down.

Well done Ali, you are the epitomy of what Preston North End is all about.
 
Ali Is fucking brilliant - so glad we have a manager that recognises that too and not only plays him put plays him in a role in which he excels,

McCann is essential to the team at the moment. Admittedly his shooting is woeful and his passing lacks imagination. But he is tenacious and as captain he does provide something that the role demands - leadership.

How does a “qualified” professional manager look at Ali McCann and think he has anything suited to playing as a 10 or a number 10

Where he’s playing currently is as far up the pitch as he should be

Especially when his nickname was McKante.

One of the many mysteries of that era. How does a manager look at Milutin Osmajic and think he could play as a target man? How does a manager look at Liam Millar and think he's better off as a Wingback rather than as a winger? How does a manager look at Ben Woodman and think he's a false nine?

Personally think it's because there's a weird recent-ish trend of managers having a "philosophy" and forcing the players to play that way rather than building their tactics around the players' strengths. But that's by the by.

Just happy that Ali McCann is being used properly and showing his worth
