I know this has been discussed at length on various other threads but what is going on with his contract situation?

Yes he was partly to blame for the equaliser but by the same token he was playing out of position so I'm not putting that solely down to him. That aside considering it was an abysmal team performance Barky looked like our only threat. He got an assist and could have grabbed a goal or two. He's a dangerous player when on it and has consistently put in good numbers in terms of goals and assists for a considerable number of seasons.

Not only is he a key player but he speaks his mind, doesn't come out with cliche bollocks and generally seems to have his head screwed on. These are the kind of players/characters you want in a side, especially when you invest absolutely fuck all in terms of transfer dealings. The fact that he's now into his last year with seemingly no offer on the table is a fucking shambles yet again.

He needs to be signed up. From what Pearson said about his contract situation on The FTF podcast Ridsdale needs to be more proactive.

Valid points, Randall.

Personally, I don’t think he offered much today other than the cross for the goal. He went missing for the majority of the 2nd half.

I don’t think he’s been at it for a decent amount of time now. I can’t really remember a run of form over the last 18 months or so. His main (and very obvious) asset is his pace, but I think he’s very limited after that. He doesn’t seem to ever take on a man and his passing is so wayward at times.

Like you’ve mentioned, he’s a top lad and speaks his mind. He’d probably be a good player to keep around for his experience but do I think it’d be a huge loss if his contract ran down and he left on a free? Probably not.

Saying that, he’d be a good player for League 1 next season!

Literally just posted on another thread. He sounds like a man who doesn't plan to be around much longer.

Or at the very least is making his disgruntlement heard.

I wouldn’t mind one or two of these longer serving players leaving if I thought we would replace them with better.
I think the urgency has gone from their games. Browne and Barkhuizen especially.

I could be wrong but I think he's the only player who forced any kind of save from the keeper in the 2nd half. He didn't have a great game by all means, but was literally the only positive attacking threat in our entire side throughout the 90 despite that. And that's kind of my point....we do not have a squad depth that provides anything better than him. I'm also 100% sure that we wouldn't bring in anyone to replace him that would offer the same amount of goal involvements at this level. 🤷‍♂️

This is my point. We already know that we absolutely would not. Yet we seem happy to let him walk on a free. A poor Barkhuizen would still be better than the inevitable dross that would come in to replace him.

Yep, take away Barky's attacking contributions today and we don't score the goal, and we have just two shots on target in the whole game, both comfortably aimed straight at the keeper.

What a sad state of affairs.

Ledson hit one from outside the box that the keeper tipped over the bar early in the 2nd half but that was the only other one I can remember.

I highly doubt he’ll get a new deal anyway. The way he’s coming across in recent interviews makes me feel that he knows his future is somewhere else other than here.

According to our esteemed director? advisor? efl board member? we can afford to lose the out of contract players because there has never been such availability in the market.

This is the same bloke that replaced Ben Davies with Liam Lindsay and thought Alan Browne would be a better right back than Darnell Fisher.

Just embarassing, and I have no confidence in him not making a similarly large cock up with Barky

I think that was Barkhuizen….I think the only one Ledson hit was the Hull players head in the follow through when he should have been sent off.

Barkhuizen is exactly the type of player that a dictator wouldn’t like…tells it as it is and has a bit of flair.

Just on that, I haven’t seen that back. With the way the Hull players reacted, lucky to stay on the pitch?
