Billy Davies v The rest

Billy Davies v The rest

There's a saying, "You dont always realise how good something is till its gone".
So the Forest fans just might want Davies back? Rovers and Bolton at boardroom level might be thinking that Davies might also be a good signing? Ridders and Trevor are going to have to move quickly if they're to get their man. I will not be happy if he slips the net. Not happy at all and I suspect others would feel the same.

Exactly, you only have to look down the road at Hollowhead, left Plymouth like a shot for Leicester, didn't fit the required profile, was sacked went to Blackpool the rest is unfortunate history for every PNE supporter. But even Mr Hollowhead since has said that it was out of character to leave Plymouth the way he did and regrets it (The Lashers have benefited from this.)

I only hoper that Billy having chased the bigger clubs around the country realises that this is not always the answer, he was believed in at PNE and hence some of the vitriol from some of the PNE supporters through the nature of his departure. All of which will be forgotten should our “Proud Club” again start moving in the right direction.

Back to back promotions / on a roll managers from lower leagues this would be the third one in the 5 years if it happens.
The rest is history.🙄

Please no! If this is the crossroads for the club and the direction they are taking it coulds also represent the crossroads for a lot of North Enders?

problem is the minute he does sign up and another job comes up he will be doing his level best to angle a move....billt davies will bring an increase in the performance of the players but we would loose long term stability

We have had no real stability for years. We have lurched from one disaster to another and that's the truth. Peters brought the club so much that had been missing. Stability, promotion, put us back on the football map and we had a blast while it lasted.

Then along came Moyes, played aggressive, powerful, never say die football and almost, almost got us to the Premier League thru the Play off final at Cardiff.

Brown came in with some very astute buys, but as a manager in the Championship was found wanting, so in came his sidekick Billy big bollox Davies. He moulded a good set of players into a very good team. A team that froze twice in play offs. A team that really should have wiped the floor with the opposition on both those occasions.
But he did tell us that his team were NOT ready and he was proved right. Hence the back me or else. Well he wasn't backed to his requirements and he got Derby promotion instead. How stupid did we look then?

It's my belief that every footballer and manager/coach will always look to improve their lot. Davies is no different to any others in that respect. Give him the tools and he'll do the job. I dont expect loyalty from any of today's mercenaries, but I do expect a job well done if given the resources to do it.

If Davies were to return expect an extra 2000 on the following home game and 2nd half season tickets to sell rapidly. Promotion is not yet impossible this season and with Billy at the helm you know it might be do-able.

Stability comes from success in any walk of life. Only failure causes instability and I am sick of failure.

Is this inside info mate? As just seen this on oddschecker a dramatic change in odds!!

I think its more of a case that one punter has put £40 on him and having been little or no money previously his odds have been cut on the back of it.

interesting story and shows why we probably ought not to appoint him again...he applied for every job going behind the boards back when here and looks like he`ll do it again if he comes back

Good points by 'fellow BD victim' in the comments bit. Billy could be great, but is his own worst enemy, and does not build clubs. He would be a 'short' term fix at best.

I don't usually bet so not sure how it works! I had some info that Billy was coming back same lad that told me about Browns sacking and Ridsdale before they happened! So I stuck £40 on Billy at 5/1! Let's just say if it doesn't happen my mates gonna get a visit from the missus if it does happen I'm on a promise!!! Hehe!! Better not post anymore before Shifter has a go at me!!

I'm no expert, maybe our resident bookie could help out.

However in a market as small as the PNE manager one any reasonable amount of money placed on someone, especially someone with little previous bets would effect his price.

Lol.

If Davies gets the job, it means I've watched my last PNE match for a while. Bore draws and smash and grab 1-0 wins. Boring.

Sorry portisheadpete..........not rude in my book, opinion v fact.........I will take fact every time.

At least I produce something to back my opinion, all you have is your (possibly biased) opinion, and yet you have the nerve to accuse me of being a bit rude?

You have posted twice, but still not one shred of evidence that another manager would have done as good (two consecutive play offs reached) as Billy Davies.

Where is your evidence to support your opinion?

Almost a Geoffrey Howe moment. Feels like I've just been savaged by a sheepskin jacket.

Considering how far we have dropped since he left and the dross that caused it, your comment is something like, toys out of pram? Kicked your teddy out of bed?
You dont have to like Davies. You do have team accept that he can bring short term success before he might leave again. I can handle that scenario. Would you sooner we rot down in the sub basement like Blackpool did for 20 years?
