Matchday Thread Birmingham City v PNE | 13.10.26 | KO:8PM | Championship

[JB]

If nothing else, whilst I do blame Hecky for a lot it does show our overall inability to recruit properly as a club from the top, whether its finances or what I don’t know, but this summer we “could” have had. Archer, Browne, Millar, and yet we end up with dead wood from other clubs.

Moran, Gibbs, Erabi, Small, Burgzorg , to name but a few are all genuinely league 1 players.

[janiejones]

Maybe Alexander's going to surprise us, and Birmingham.

Gibbs Offiah Storey Hughes

Thompson Leroy

Devine

Mills Lang Small

[Jack78978]

Unless Gibbs is in there to sure up the midfield with Devine playing off Lang up top

Very true, it's just clocked to me that this is probably the most attack minded wing-backs we've played with.

So makes a lot of sense.

[IrishNorthEnder93]

Why does BBC sports have Gibbs as a Right Back, surely not.

[Hoz ']

If we lose the next 15 on the trot there would be no point pulling the trigger we would.be dead and buried.

So now the manager has no accountability. It can’t get any worse!

I don’t know why people look at BBC or Sky. It’s well documented that they haven’t got a clue when it comes to Championship squads

See my earlier post. ITK?

I fear that Mills is going to become the 2026 version of Okkels.

A Winger signed for a specific role which we then don't use because of the dreaded WB system.

WB negates his attacking strengths.

Let him attack with a FB behind him in a 4231 or a 433.

We'll get tonked tonight.

Not a single MF on the bench. Make you own MF jokes!!

^^^This^^^

If he is playing WB that’s criminal in all honesty.

[Bobbage]

Absolutely love this squad 😅 We genuinely haven't got the players for any specific formation.

I just want to see a PNE team with two actual wingers for once... (obvs this will never happen)

Love it!! But we both know that ain't happening sadly.

Where are the goals coming from, Lang up top with Devine as the 10, we can only hope Birmingham don't have their shooting boots on.🥴☹️

[Jack78978]

I actually don't mind this lineup, it's something different which everyone has been wanting. Hopefully it helps with the lack of creativity we had the other day.

[TF1]

Langs up top with Gibbs in screams a pressing approach from us tonight.

Fear they’re going to play through us with ease.

[Rankine]

Mills and Small as fucking wing backs, manager after manager fucking up our attacking players!!!!

[Seamustasmania]

Can someone give me some info on Gibbs ? His signing is completely off my radar. I must have slept through it all ? 😢

[Brianbarrymurphy]

Played with 2 10s on Saturday

Oh shit yeah of course, sorry!

[Brianbarrymurphy]

I have the feeling one of gibbs/Thompson could be wing back tbh. Think gibbs may have played there for Norwich at times, and then small as the other wingback, and mills in the 10 with Devine.

[WhiteInHuddersfield]

What's going on with Moran? Thought he looked decent a few times last season, certainly didn't look any less capable than any of the other midfield options

They always get it hopelessly wrong.

I mean as announcements go, it was certainly one that got a whole load of press coverage....
