Confirmed Callum Lang signs from Portsmouth

Posted on his Insta doing Hamstring training

Just don’t have any confidence that we’ll get more than 20 games from him next season

Hope he proves me wrong as he’s more than useful when fit .
I doubt we'll see more than 15 games a season before his contract is up and he gets released on a free.

Last season was the only time his appearances have been proper shit.

As a fanbase we don't half love to blow things out of proportion.
Wasn’t he rushed back at Portsmouth too which aggravated his injury more?

Last season was an outlier for him, I’m more than happy to write it off for him and say his Preston career starts next season

Me and my lad laughed when we made this signing..... Yet another on the long list of fuck ups and incompetence by the PNE hierarchy... But at least we are consistent. 🙂

Very risky signing and not one I would have chanced but too early to write it off as a fuck up. Obviously it could well go that way but I will give him chance to prove himself.
Do need to move away from taking punts on players with poor fitness records and hopefully under new owners we can do just that.

Fair comment but it does fit our profile.

Yeah, he's only had one bad season injury-wise, just stands out because it was the most recent one.

If we get 35 games out of him, then I think he'll be a snip at £2.2m and will be a genuine fan's favourite. But obviously, no one knows how things will pan out.

Regardless, the timing of the transfer was just daft.

I really hope he gets back to form. Maybe with lighter/different training manage his minutes new pitch sub after 60.70 mins. And he may have a point to prove to others. There is talent in him.🤞

Yes, but after us taking our time to get him back, even - gasp - using him in a reserve game to gradually get him up to speed, simply getting a knock to his ankle in his third start (5 apps) was enough to make his hamstring go ping again.

That is a massive concern.

Has there been any other club in the country who have signed not one, not two, but three players while they were all still out with long-term injuries this season?

Jordan Thompson
Callum Lang
Cathal O'Sullivan

Rather have 35 goals 😉

One of the dads at local cricket club is a physio at Everton. He was talking about Branthwaite but similar applies to Lang.

He said that if you can get away with not needing surgery thats ususlky best, but once its been operated on it really is case of long term management and high risk of recurring injuries.

Lang is undiubtedly a good player but given a large part of his success has been based on his pressing and decent pace, i'd be concerned!
