Central Midfield

Chaplow was shit today,no ifs or buts,he was shite.

Cater did a little better.

Shumi,in his 20 mins or so,had his best PNE game to date.

Whilst i'm here,Collins did ok for once although he was up against lumps today instead of guile.

Hurry up Barry Nic!!!

Chaplow can be creative, he just can't give the ball to his own players right now.

Also same can be said of Nolan and Jones.

How about a makeshift midfielder who can play forward , beat a player, make a pass. Neil Mellor behind Parkin and Brown. Must be better than Carter. I actually thought Chaplow had one of his better games today.

You're kidding right?

Maybe towards the end of his North End career he wasn't at his most crestive but certianly before that he was our best passer of the ball by miles IMHO.

being our best passer didnt make him a creative player...it just meant he was the best we had...I stick by my opinion....mckenna was not and is not a creative player.....a busy player yes

It's a game of opinions, as they say, but I can't see many agreeing with you on this one! To my eyes, he was awful. He contributed nothing. He hadly got a tackle in, he continually lost posession, he blazed wide when it was easier to hit the target....that's just my opinion of course..

Fair enough mate.

I would still maintain if you are our best passer you would more than likely be creative as well by definition, especially if you play in the middle of the park.

And he did actually get a few tackles in, always a useful attribute for a midfield player ;-)

The williamson mckenna partnership of the play off run in last season looked far better than any central midfield performance this season with perhaps leicester away as the exception.

We have a heard away game and then the Geordies before this, we need two good performances to put a bit of a run together before this. Sadly dont know if AI has the resources ?

Looking at Blackpool's home form I just think we'll struggle. They are clearly going to be up for this. This is the best Blackpool team since they came up in 2007.

Two wins and maybe we'll be looking at this game on a different angle but being honest can you seeing us beat the Geordies at home after todays performance. Watford away won't be easy either.

Both Chaplow and Carter totally lack the mental toughness to succeed at this level. Neither really wants to win the ball and there lies the problem.

We actually need 2 new midfielders despite popular opinion that one will do.

been saying this for about 18 months.

chappers can win the ball through other means then tackling though, his harrasing the opposition was a massive part of our success last season.

Neither game will be easy and when are we ever good infront of the cameras these days ? But AI has got to work some magic and get two good performances out of the squad we have got then we can be more positive for that other game .

It will annoy a few on here but Mckenna is far better than any of the central midfileders we currently have. He wasn't always the most positive but kept it simple, kept posession, won tackles, made himself available and even for a d-warf won headers. However he has gone after being a great servant.

Chaplow and Carter are too often weak, don't keep the ball and are inefective, we know Chaplow can and has played a lot better but that seems a long time ago now. Carter has always underachieved, seems to lack commitment and passion. He is 6 foot plus in height but today summed it up for me, we sent him back at our corners and sent forward everyone else. If he had a big heart he would be in the box attacking the ball, Sean Gregan he aint!

Shumi did well today but AI needs to decide his best pairing, stop swapping them about and give them a run in the side, let them get a bit of rythm and confidence. When you look at the league table we are still in a fantastic position, and we can still give Blackpoo a good stuffing.

everytime i saw chaplow today, he never had the ball, but was always chasing back after missing out on intercepting it, always 2nd to it, always lacking behind. Something is seriously wrong with the lads head. Either that or his luck is not good at the moment.....

carter, shumi and chaplow all pretty much the same - absymal this seaon!

yes we are missng mckenna - the proof is our absent/overrun midfield

performances of wallace might also be affected by his absence. wallace for me has had a poor start to season also - mckenna's crab like balls to the wing meant he had a regular supply line.

whats amazes me is how we have survived so far this season - wallace and parry are flair players that can't defend and the 3 misfits have been awol in the centre.

on a make do and mend sedgewick might even be better in the centre than the other 3

we needed another midfielder even when we had mckenna now we need 2!

we need somebody from a bigger team/squad that can't get a look in who wants to get a game every week because that can be guaranteed to anyone half decent!

Carter would be better of in the Olympic hide and seek team, AWOL again, agree about sedgwhinnio we have nothing to lose at all, can't criticize up front and defence it's all about midfield, the only decent balls cutting to the channels came from jones, for god sakes put him back in midfield again and lose carthorse in a glue factory somewhere as the knackers yard is all he is fit for !
Ps
Good goal from wallace but surely mellor as the motm ?
