Not too sure when they changed, but those contributors that haventuploaded a personal avatar are now all showing the same pneonline one.
Now i've not yet lost all my marbles but I keep wondering why the same contributor is slagging himself off whilst quoting one of his comments!
Well he's not is he?
So what I've realised is that I first pay attention to the avatar before the name.
I'm sure there are others finding this a bit annoying and those who haven't even noticed it, but can we please go back to what it was before (can't remember what though, colours?).

I did wonder myself why the PNE on line logo was breeding. They can't leave anything alone on here🐒

Agree with that! Think it was different coloured backgrounds with the first initial of the username previously.

Yeah agree with this. The forum currently looks friggin excellent, probably the best it's ever looked...but the pne-online logo as a default avatar does look a bit messy and daft.

Fair comments on the avatars and I agree with the feedback.

The idea behind using the PNE Online logo as the default avatar was not to make everyone look the same. It was actually the opposite in a roundabout way.

I was trying to make the default avatar a bit boring and generic so more members might upload their own personal avatar. The hope was that it would encourage people to add something that makes their posts more recognisable.

However I completely accept that having the same PNE Online logo repeated across different users made threads harder to follow. It was especially confusing when several people without custom avatars were posting in the same discussion or being quoted.

So I have changed it.

Members without their own uploaded avatar should now have username/initial-based avatars again. I have also tried to style them so they fit better with the forum using PNE colours rather than the random default colours.

Uploaded personal avatars still work exactly as normal and I would still encourage members to add one if they can. It makes discussions easier to follow and gives the forum a bit more character.

Thanks for the feedback. It was fair and hopefully this is a better compromise.

I can see what you were thinking with it possibly being a way to encourage users to upload their own.

Another suggestion would be to give everyone who doesn't have a personal avatar one that's really lame/cringe/Blackpool related - that might get them to change it themselves. 😂
