I've found this article from the Coventry Telegraph via News Now PNE So I though I share it with you on what Some Coventry players think of us as a team.

William Edjenguele
WITH a Wembley final just a couple of steps away, Coventry City hardly require any extra incentive to see off Preston North End tonight.

But as well as reaching the area final of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, the Sky Blues are desperate to put one over Preston boss Graham Westley and the side he has created in his own abrasive image.

The tension between the two teams was evident at the end of last month’s League One draw at the Ricoh Arena when Westley and City boss Mark Robins shared a long but palpably unfriendly handshake.

And even the ultra-affable William Edjenguele confirmed ahead of tonight’s re-run: “I will be fired up for this one I’m telling you right now, because we have something to prove against them after the last game.

“I didn’t like the way they play their football and how some of their players are. Their striker did some nasty things – it wasn’t a case of being physical because everyone plays physical, but if the ball is away they kick you and talk to you.

“It won’t be the same type of experience as Tottenham but it will be another tough game so I hope everyone will be ready for the challenge.”

Gary McSheffrey is certainly keen to make an impact tonight after the rough ride he got from Westley’s troops last time out, referee Mike Jones adding a yellow-card insult to his bumps and bruises when John Mousinho took an outrageous dive by the corner flag.

“I don’t know what they’ve got against me – perhaps it was the hat-trick I scored against them for Birmingham a few years ago,” said the Cov Kid forward.

“They’re quite a rough team, very physical, and there was a lot going on off the ball. The manager warned us before the game that their tactics are to get into your faces, get you rattled and hope that someone reacts and gets sent off, but we were prepared for that.”

McSheffrey set up James Bailey’s opener as Coventry dominated the first half of that match but after Lee Holmes earned Preston their point Westley assured any media that would listen: “We battered them, let’s be honest about it – I think there was one team out there playing to win” McSheffrey countered: “If that’s what he wants to say, that’s up to him, but it’s a little bit small-minded.

“If you want to dissect it and look at it from a more professional point of view, we were a lot better than them in the first half and they bullied us in the second half without playing good football.
“I think that’s a better evaluation of the game but the fact is that we did tail off in the second half so we’ve got to raise our game this time.

“We know what to expect but we’ve just got to play our own game and make sure we perform for 90 minutes because that should be enough to beat them.

“If we can do that we’re into the area final and so close to Wembley. And that would be unbelievable, especially for the fans who have been great wherever we’ve gone this season.”

Edjenguele, who turned in a manful display against Emmanual Adebayor on Saturday and forced Brad Friedel to make his only real save of the match, agreed: “The supporters were fantastic again at Spurs, singing and getting behind us and I am just disappointed that we couldn’t stay in the game longer.

“I want to say from myself and my team a big thank you to them and hope we will have some good results in the future.

“I think we gave them too much respect in the first half; you want to play on the front foot but we were waiting a bit too much and you can’t do that against them.

“Adebayor is a player I have watched ever since I was very young, when he was at Monaco and watching him play on TV, so to play against him was great. He is a great guy who gave me his shirt at the end and it was a good experience for me.

“I thought I wasn’t too bad against him but at the end of the day we lost and we were disappointed with the goals they got – if they scored from a really good move you can say well done, but they were really silly goals.

“It was a good experience for me and the team but when you lose you cannot be pleased with yourself.

“We should have done a better job, but we showed in the second half that we can play football and create chances, even against one of the best teams in England, so hopefully in League One, especially at home, we can show we can do that as well.”

Got to disagree regarding their view of our football!

I thought we were bright and deserve to go in on level tearms at half time. Second half we upped the tempo and they could not handle us. As for macsheffey viewn on his booking he is bang on moose took a dive fair enough but then made it looked like macsheffey had done him! No need but its obviously wound then up for tonight something we could have done without as its going to be hard enough anyway. But if we play the way we did second half then were going to give them a lot more problems than they're going to give us.!

Why would they be mad about the hatrick he scored against us? Does he not know we have a totally new manager and players? He can't be that thick surely.

WTF is Mcsheffrey on about. Scored a Hat Trick? So what. That was then when we had a different Manager and different players. We are now a different club. Its not the club that has been shitty with him,its the current squad. What a fukin Bellend.

Exactly - some footballers are thick as f#ck

He was also playing for Birmingham at that time & not Coventry. if I remember rightly his 3rd goal for a Penalty on McSeffrey which he got & scored from wasn't a Penalty in the first place.

Send the soft twats to Coventry, Oh hang on.

Was he talking about Beavon when he said our striker was dirty? I mean come on if he was what a soft arse.

And talking to players etc. what do they expect. That even goes on in Sunday league anything for an edge.

Are we a physical side? I don't think we're anymore physical than anyone else, whatever physical means in the first place.

Hope we smash em 3-0 tonight.

Oh dear, it looks like Westley and his tactics have done their job in firing up the opposition yet again! I can see us getting a right pasting tonight now - well done, Graham! 😱

Hahaha, hope that our boys read this.

Also glad that it is live on TV and will hopefully bring an end to all of this nonsense about Westley's PNE team being a team of bullies. Total and utter nonsense.

Finally, what a biased report, it was Westley who went to shake the hand of Robins, Robins was the one who wished to appear ungentlemanly with his reluctance to shake hands.

Divs.

Beavon didn't play - I guess he's talking about Cummins and Beardsley (they played roughly a half each).

Beavon didn't play in the game he got injured in the warm up so Amoo played instead in a 5 man Midfield.
