David Amoo Released / Joins Tranmere (Confirmed)

Doesn't paying players off count towards our wage budget cos GW did say somrthing like this in his interview on Radio Lancs after Saturdays game at Millwall?

In all honesty, i imagine, that Amoo probably agreed to tear it up as he had a new one sorted with Tranmere. He has fixed himself up very quickly for the club to agree to pay him 6 months wages to get rid of him.

Situation was probably, he wanted away, Tranmere wanted him, both parties agreed to rip up his contract and let him go there.

Mmmm not so sure this is a good move, it may come back to bite our collective bum. Still beggar all I can do but wish him well except when he plays us.

From what I heard he played well when he came on at Millwall. I don't think all is yet lost for him at this level. Ronnie Moore will have a different approach to Westley, it may work.

it does but paying them off is probably lower cost than fullfilling the contract over its term.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy he's gone because he's a truly terrible footballer, but Westleys player turnover is worrying me. That's Holroyd and Amoo paid up this week. He's had Kane and Elding come and go quickly as well. Pre season was one thing as they were not his signings but these are lads he wanted in.

LEP says that he's signed 33 players in his year here !!

I certainly have concerns... but last season, he was in some sort of emergency mode, just trying to find a way of off-loading a lot of bad attitude... but he certainly seems to like to dabble.

My guess it that he's had one or two more 'failures' with this 2012/13 signings than he'd have expected... but he / we should certainly expect quite a few. All managers... Wenger, Benetez, whoever... get a fair proportion wrong. And I think it must be even more difficult when you're trying to pick up rough gems for free.

Nobody has said anything about paying him off. His contract was ended by mutual consent. Obviously done a deal with Tranmere and that meant he was happy to walk away without a pay out. Seems similar to the deal we did with Garner after he left Watford in a similar way.
Well done PNE.

Yeah this is the way it will have happened. The best thing about the current regime is how we've handled contracts. Amoo looked good on paper but it hasn't worked out.

So we can now release him and look to bring in a better replacment. Good work. The squad is still evolving and developing. Bringing in Garner and Foster really does seem to be an improvment, let's hope are next signings are equally as refreshing.

Head down, run, get tackled/put a terrible ball in/ pass back, might ask Ronnie Moore if he wants me to compliment amoo on the left

GW has said on his Video Interview on PNE Player which I've just watched has said that's he's hopefully will be able bring more players into PNE in this Transfer Window.

They play with pace on the counter.

Unfortunately for them you need players who also take the ball with them when running.

Good post.

For the last few seasons, North End seem to have had a club policy of employing a muscular, super fast, black lad, who is a brilliant athlete, but can't actually play football. There must have been one such player in the squad at any one time in the last 5 years. Amoo was latest, Agyemang was the first and best and Eddie Johnson was another, but there have been at least a couple of others, who's names for the moment escape me.

Can anybody help?

"Amoo is on fire", what a chant, there were times when watching him I wished he was......😱

Pretty much sums up Amoo's time at PNE. When he signed it seemed he could be a live wire in this division but I didn't see him do anything in all the games I witnessed. Then again he's not your typical Westley player and I am not really sure he fitted into our tactics to be honest. He really needed balls to run on to rather than be expected to beat a man or two.

But as PNE No.7's go he was was bloody rubbish. Some say he could of come good if played upfront but I think anyone as piss weak strength wise with zero composure in front of goal would have struggled in non league never mind in league one.

I was accused of racism once for simply comparing Eddie Johnson and Amoo. To compare all these players and suggest more would simply be a racist witch hunt.
