It's not excellent if you have to pay 8p PER GO to be told that the number is busy. Why not just use the normal engaged tone, and save fans money. Or is this a cheeky way of making more money? Incompetence!
you had better be joking, i've rung that sodding number 48 times this morning and am now finally waiting in the q!

Buying for mates, keeps the queues down. It shoudlnt be stopped in my opinion. What needs to be upheld is the rules they specify for issuing tickets.
Buying for mates keeps the number of people in the queue down, but it doesn't keep waiting time down. It actually increases them because you have to wait for more tickets to be bought in front of you.
Like anyone with any sense I got my mate to queue for the tickets I was entitled to, he wasn't too fussed though as he was already getting 18 tickets so another 4 wasn't going to make much difference to him.
Just got in work now WIBG. You should have seen the lady at the ticket office's eyes as I threw my wadd on the counter!!

Did you get your season tickets out after that? 😱
I agree with Shaky. There should be a limit to how many people can buy for their mates, to stop the queue being abused. 4 per person, tops?
What about those who are unable to take time off work?

I agree with you. The old ticket office number used to start 0870 but about 2 months ago BT said these would no longer be premium rate numbers i.e. free if you have certain BT packages. The next week PNE changed their phone numbers to 0844.

As I say, four per person. What about those who don't know anyone who will be queueing?

I don't see what the problem is allowing one person to buy as many tickets as they want, as long as they meet the criteria, why have 6 people stood together to buy the 22 tickets my mate got this morning when 1 will suffice?
And I also don't see what your final point, about those people who don't know anyone, has to do with anything.
Yes, a big fuck off to all you people queuing patiently and running up their phone bills.
Selfish cunts.
Eh?...i've been on nights (started @ 1800) and was in the queue @ 0710 finally getting served at about 1030am.
I didn't phone up fella...i queue as i always do plus i offered...via a thread on here...to collect tickets for people like you who couldn't attend today. Only JK (psg) and jonny (London) replied.
A cunt i may be at times but selfish? (shakes head).

It's a response to the question "What about people who have to work?"
Why should someone be able to effectively jump in front of other people just because they "know someone" near the front of the queue. This isn't a communist country, you know...

He was about 10 places behind me.
We exchanged morning pleasantries! 😀

I've not been to bed yet!!!
Still, this Strongbow that im supping reet now might entertain me a while longer. 😉😀
I have just had a text confirming my ticket along with 8 mates. Should we all go separately to Preston Station to get our train tickets, or will sending one person to the station to sort these tickets out be acceptable?

Altogether different - there is neither likely to be a long queue, nor a possibly shortage of tickets, for your train.

I still don't see the problem, if it was limited to 4 per person then I would bet that 'queue jumping' would occur a lot more. I don't understand what actual difference restricting ticket sales to individuals would do, apart from lengthen the queue.
The one thing I will say is that in 2009 with all the technology available I find it staggering that people are still forced to queue up for tickets.
