EXCITEMENT
There are 8 months of the season left, but I’ve been thinking about this and decided that, on balance, it does make sense to be excited about our chances.
Consider these scenarios:
1. Get excited about our chances now, and we end up getting promoted = 8 months of being excited.
2. Get excited now, but we’re out of it by March = 6 months of being excited
3. Get excited now, but we turn to shit by November = 2 months of being excited
4. Don’t get excited until we are mathematically promoted = maybe 1 week of being excited
If we do get promoted, just think of how much more enjoyable your season will have been, versus the sensible people who are refusing to get excited yet. You’ve had all that additional excitement that they have missed out on by being ‘sensible’.
Even if excitement is ultimately followed by disappointment, remember you were still genuinely excited in the period leading up to that. That must be better than expecting everything to go tits up at the next game.
Be excited. You know it doesn’t really make sense - but it feels good.
