Hi guys, we’re coming down from Glasgow for the game on Saturday. I haven’t read it mentioned anywhere so can we assume the game isn’t in any doubt with the weather?

Any recommendations for pubs for lunch and watching the lunchtime and 5.30 game?

Cheers

Can't say we are blessed with pubs or places for lunch close to the ground sadly.

Moorbrook is alright, but is a bit of a walk to the ground.

As for the game being called off, it shouldn't be, good drainage on Deepdale, however if this rain keeps coming then who knows, may be re-building Noah's Ark at this rate.

The game will be on. If you're getting the train down that might be an issue for you.

Make sure you eat in town as there are very few pubs anywhere near the ground and similarly for the 5:30 game walk back into town and watch it there. It takes about 25 mins to walk back so perfect timing really as for some reason the games at Deepdale tend to be one of the last few to finish.

Wings and Beer and Ballers are 2 sports bars in town. Ballers seem to be doing all you can eat pizza at the moment if you fancy that!

First stop i suggest is the Old Vic just over the road from the railway station that serves good beer and has Sky. ( not sure about food). I’d stop in there for the lunch time game and grab a takeaway and taxi to the ground after. Its about a 25 minute walk and if the weather is like it is now you would get drenched.

After the game I’d highly recommend Wings and Beer for food, footy and beer. It does get pretty busy though. Again, thats in the town centre and a 25 minute walk from the ground. You may struggle with a taxi, or you could try a bus to the bus station and it’s another 5 to 10 mins walk from there.

enjoy the game and bring us luck

Thought this too, last weekend when we were on the train, Transpennine services only ran as far as Carlisle from Glasgow/Edinburgh according to station staff. There were agreements in place that you could travel on Avanti from Carlisle to Preston and back but obviously the service times didn't match up so could be waits at either end

Thanks for replies. Hopefully no issues with our train and Old Vic will be our first stop.

Wings & Beer would be the best bet for watching the televised games and the food is pretty good, decent beer selection, though you might struggle for buckfast, and loads of TVs. Nearer the ground is pretty poor with only the Catholic club or the Labour club within 5 mins walk. Moorbrook is a cracking pub, great beer selection, ace pizzas and pies, beer garden and is 10/15 mins walk from deepdale. Princess Alice is close to the Moorbrook and is a traditional local pub and has loads of TVs and cheap beer. I would avoid the Bears Paw, Barneys, Golden Cross and Blackamoor in town unless you want to buy some dodgy merchandise.
