Flags for Deepdale 2022/2023 - PNE Online supporting North End Soul

Are we thinking of putting us all in a dedicated area ? And relocating to the kop when its open ?

I know its early days , we need more information ?

Maybe a couple of polls to gauge some early feelings ?

1. If we sorted everything out, would you come and sit in the allocated section ?

2. Would you relocated your seat in the Town end or kop ?

etc !!

Popped in my head before... What are the odds of getting the players to drop in £50 each and getting the ball rolling? 😂🤣
Maybe , but I remember a certain scheme a few years ago where a nurse tried to get football players to give a certain donation of their wages to nurses , Gareth Southgate banned his players from donating at the time ( boro I think) because of the way it was "marketed to them"

From reading in-between the lines , it must have come across as "donate or we will out you" then the whole thing collapsed.

I am sure their is no harm in asking , but tread lightly 🙂

Yeah, the drummer should be moved to the middle. He could also do with a better drum - the current one sounds quite flat when compared with Boro’s and, dare I say it, the Lashers’. It also sounds like
Agree. A new drum that isn't a base drum would make more sense or even getting them reskinned- will leave that to others though.

Initially the plan is to fill the Town End with as much colour as possible then escalate over the years but as always will be depend alot on how much interest, fan participation and money we have available.

Very early days, we have launched the fundraising aspect early than planned following the thread with fans keen to do something. Will also give us am idea on what sort of budget we are looking at.

Thanks for your fantastic donation.

Once we have spoken to further with the club we can look at exactly what we do. As with the surfers fans will get huge say on what angle we take with this.

Looking at how other clubs dish the flags out logistically etc is something we already have in place if the GSO and club facilitate it (won't be an issue)

1. If we sorted everything out, would you come and sit in the allocated section ?
No located sections as such, we want this across the widest possible fan base. We do however respect that it may not be for everyone so may need to come up with some sort of guide.

Ie the lads at the corner of the Town End might not mind waving flags about ala Palace for the whole game whist others across the stand only when we score or prior to the fans coming out. We don't need to tell people how to suck eggs though...

2. Would you relocated your seat in the Town end or kop ?

The kop is a tricky one and something we would need to discuss further. We already know having any sort of flags on poles is unlikley to be approved. So looking at tiffo style banners when it's open may be more appropriate to go with the surfer when full.

I know there isn't anything to specific but we really want to make a mark here and not rush into anything.

Cheers for the replies JK 👍 ok will we are still in , so let us know what we can do !!

Do we really need more flags? If it’s about increasing atmosphere there are 3 things that are useful:

1. Unreserved section
2. Standing
3. Cheaper prices, especially for the 16-24 age bracket

Not knocking anyones efforts but if people are donating money, I’d have thought given the cost of living crisis at the moment, it would be good to create some kind of financial hardship pot for fans unemployed, on benefits, youngsters on free school meals etc that could access all or a % of the cost of a season ticket.

Would be a great thing for fans to support other fans at this time of need.

All valid points.

1. Unreserved sections are unlikley because it means that capacity in that area is reduced by 10%.

They did a unreserved trail on the kop but I think it will be reserved with some moveability.

2. Pretty much everyone on the kop stands with no issue. Rail seating would be ideal but given cost implications I don't think we will see that at Deepdale any time soon.

3. Cheaper prices.. not sure what else the club can do on that front. It's £280.

We fully respect that this is a difficult time for many people and no one is under any pressure to donate to the cause, we would if anything want people's time to help as well as funding.

You will have seen that last season we donated over £1000 towards the community trust to help support their vital work.

Last summer we ran a shirt auction which raised over £600 for St Catherine's hospice.

As a forum we have raised over £15000 in the last twenty years towards various good causes.

I don't know how many other football clubs of PNE's size has a fans forum that does so much for its local community.

That work will certainly continue.

We are however predominantly a Preston North End group of supporters and helping to support the team is a focus for us.

Deepdale is a sanctuary for many of us to get away from the stresses of day to day life and the current mods and admin believe playing a key role in that is important given out huge reach across the fanbase.

Good to see.

As we have said the forum would be delighted to build on the flags and do anything we can to help improve the atmosphere at Deepdale.

One word of caution a "ultras" style approach may not be what we need. We don't want to copy other clubs and do things our way.

If we can get the Town End and Kop both at it when both open then it will be great.

For impact though tifo's banners, flags and the like probably best focused on the Town End which with Season ticket sales so far could be quite full each game.
good point about the numbers in the Town End, it means that it will be virtually full every game.....

@JK @Mod & Admin Team

I know some parts of this process may have jumped ahead of schedule but would it be possible to establish a couple of points in the immediate short term so fans can be informed when choosing seats for ST before the early bird offer has passed? I understand the flags distribution is quite general and doesn't need positioning decisions at the minute.

Rather, if we could establish a confirmation with drummer(s) and club/GSO that the top of the central block for example, could be setup to accommodate the playing; it would help to spread the message across social media platforms.

I'm quite alarmed by how many people are even unaware that there WAS a drum! That speaks volumes! 🤣

I spoke to the drummer at the start of last season as they have been pushing to move for years.

At the moment there is now a TV Camera in the middle and then season ticket holders. The club wont/can't take out seats to accommodate them anywhere other than the corner at the minute.

This really would be something that would need to be discussed prior to season tickets going on sale.

@mapping you absolute donation legend!

So does this mean a drummer couldn't have an end seat on the top row of a central block for example?

Massive shame. I think the club could at least contact the season ticket holders that would be affected, see what the thought is. Bit of a heads up about the season after.

At the end of the day, it would only be a handful of ST holders and it would be for the benefit of everyone.

Unlikley but we will have a chat to the club and see what's likely.

The middle block is pretty much full (aside from the bottom). The club won't (and rightly so) not want to move season ticket holders who have only just renewed.

The rules and regulations in the UK are quite strict which obviously puts the prices up.

Also there are rules with what size poles and what they are made of you can have etc.

Also having flags on poles on a split kop is a no go area, however there is the option to display flags.

We have already spoken to PNE and our flag suppliers so can put together a new fundraising page and see where it takes us.

If there is a will there is a way.
This seems to be ok at Huddersfield though? See post 47.

Obviously not for games vs Lashers etc.

Only just ordered mine now as was seeing how things would develop but MASSIVELY underestimated how many have gone! Got pretty much last 2 seats together in central 3 blocks that aren't at the bottom!
