Heckingbottom - Honeymoon Over?

Heckingbottom - Honeymoon Over?

As far as im concerned, this season is all about staying up, i'll judge him when hes had the January and summer transfer windows and got some of his own players in and had a proper pre-season to prepare the team how he wants them to play

Same here which is fair I think as someone said he has done some questionable team Selection but we really can't judge him yet rather have him than Lowe tho. Important Jan coming up & fixtures to.

Is the honeymoon period over? Yes IMO - some of the performances have been truly shocking and I thought Saturday's performance and the way we lined up was an insult.

However, I'm still firmly behind him as he has been dealt an utterly shit hand and very few managers would get a tune out of this lot.

Hecky should not be immune to criticism and I do think he has got some things wrong, however we all know what the fundamental issues are and until these are addressed, things won't get any better.
The hierarchy well and truly fucked up by not potting Lowe at the end of the season - the fact Ridsdale tried to persuade him to stay says it all.

Overall, I won't and can't properly judge Hecky until he is given the proper tools to do the job - unfortunately I doubt he'll get them.

The timing of Lowe's departure meant the conditions were never even in place for a honeymoon period and there was certainly no new manager bounce.

We saw nothing of either.

At the moment it feels the highlight of our season is going to be that run of 2 wins in 3 games against Watford & Coventry, and perhaps our comedy-marathon penalty shoot out.

The worrying thing for me was not seeing any anger from PH in his media, following the shambolic display v Derby.

It was time to lay down the law. He acted as though it was nothing out of the ordinary.

He couldn't when he himself basically accepted the draw with most of his changes.

He has undoubtedly been dealt a poor hand but setting up as he did on Saturday was bordering on the unforgiveable.

Worries me that the one player he has signed can't get in the team (presuming this was his signing & not already agreed by the previous regime). Not a good sign.

If M UTD will take years to improve, according to their new manager. Don't expect PH to turn things round at PNE in 3 months.
Be realistic please people!
He will get things wrong and it will not all be an upwards curve as PH himself said when first appointed. Two years is a reasonable first step. A lot will depend on those upstairs and FFP rules [ I know, we can all moan about that too.]

But what is he supposed to be "turning round" here?

To repeat - Craig Hemmings said in 2022 that within 18 months Lowe would have his "ideal squad... that can compete at the top end of the Championship and ultimately deliver promotion". His words.

The Isle of Man and Ridsdale have now had those 18 months, and here we have that "ideal squad".

And now PH has to "turn it round"? We've now got to be "realistic"? Wait another "2 years as a reasonable first step" to improve our current bottom-5 position?

This isn't the time for fans to be patient. The fans have already been patient, for at least 18 months, as Craig requested, watching garbage football while the "ideal squad" was supposedly being assembled.

This is the time for fans to be impatient, and to demand of the Isle of Man and Peter fucking Ridsdale, what have they been doing for the last two years, and why does their complacent 2022 vision of a squad ready to "deliver promotion" now lie in rags and tatters.

PR didn’t pick that dreadful side on Saturday or play KKH out of position so that the ineffective Potts could play.

Who are we playing as left wing back then? The fact KKH has to play out of our position is because of our useless recruitment.

Fans who think that Ridsdale isn't blameless deserve relegation. Ridsdale isn't part of the problem. He IS the problem. Get rid of him.

Somebody needs to remind Craig of exactly what he said

We don’t have the personnel we should go 442 or play Best

As we all know the responsibility of our current dire situation lies firmly at PRs door.

Problem is we probably now have all our eggs in one basket which is the January transfer window to turn things around. All I can see coming from that window is KKH returning to Villa leaving us in an even worse position. We're also likely to get another injury or 2 in that time to the likes of Riis, Greenwood or Mads and we are royally screwed.

If PH can find some home wins and keep us above the dotted line before January comes then he is doing very well. Just wish we could be more expansive at home and more resolute away from home.

George seems to be the only person with the bollocks to actually do that.
Step up Radio Lancs

It needs to come from all directions, including from the fans.

The last thing the fans need to be right now is "patient". We've already tried that, all that happened was the owners and Ridsdale enjoyed the peace and quiet.
