Heckingbottom - Honeymoon Over?

Heckingbottom - Honeymoon Over?

My patience is wearing thin. Saturday's line up, especially after Portsmouth, was abysmal. What was worse, was not changing it, try Okkels and/or Bowler, maybe even Best. They might be shit, but FFS, try something different. No different to Lowe, although he doesn't talk quite as much nonsense.
I haven't got enough time to cover the other issue, other than to say, 'Times up Peter'.

It needs to come from all directions, including from the fans.

The last thing the fans need to be right now is "patient". We've already tried that, all that happened was the owners and Ridsdale enjoyed the peace and quiet.

This is the frustration though.
If Hemmings was approached by the media, the questions that you've raised about his comments would more than likely not be asked.
I mean how is he going to answer that.
As you've pointed out, they were his words!!

Injuries, suspensions, and a squad that lacks depth and balance are the key issues for me. Playing the blame game will not solve anything. Back to the drawing board and live in hope. It's what we do.

Craig doesn't write his own Club Statements anyway, so it would be easier to just go direct to the author - who not coincidentally is also responsible for the mess we're in.

We will be lucky to stay up this season and this has been coming for a while now. Not properly replacing players that have left the club. No clear strategy on how the move the club forward. Deafening silence from those at the top of the club. Nobody wants to take responsibility to sort this mess out.
We are all grateful to the Hemming family for keeping PNE afloat but please Craig, get shut of the geriatric Risdale and get someone competent in. If you cannot or will not do what is needed to push for the Premier League consider your position.

Yeah, I'd actually forgot that it's more than likely Ridsdale that pens the words uttered from Craig's mouth.
We must remember though that Craig feels hurt if his ambition is questioned! 🙄

He must feel a lot of pain then, because Objective Reality questions his ambition all day every day.

I know his hand was forced with the Mads injury, but I think his moaning about our lack of attacking play when you pick a team of defensive players was Lowe-esque.

He is better than Lowe.

Lowe didn't learn from his mistakes.

I am confident Hecky will.

Bravery on the pitch starts with brave selections.

He needs results and decisions to start going his way.

PH has been lumbered with a squad of League 1 and 2 players who, no matter what formation being played, are generally shit to watch. Even the ones considered "decent" appear to have lost the will to live. All depends on what happens in January window

Who thought he'd be a saviour?

Of the candidates being mooted at the time, Heckingbottom was the absolute 100% Steady Eddie, the safe pair of hands, the conservative option, the dull choice. Nothing remotely messianic about him.

His squad's a bag of shite - but we must remember, this is also Ryan Lowe's "ideal squad", it's what Craig said in 2022 just needed "two or three windows" to become "a squad that can compete at the top end of the Championship and ultimately deliver promotion". Well, here we are, four windows later, and it's such an "ideal squad" ready to "deliver promotion" that Lowe ran for the hills rather than face another season with it.

PH is now here to try and keep this promotion-ready squad in the division. Without major squad improvements, which we won't be getting, there's no way he can do that without abandoning the watchable-but-naive football of his "honeymoon" period, and grinding out the points with more grimly defensive setups instead.

As highlighted - probably - but there is no excuse for some of the players to appear disinterested as they did on Saturday, you can be utterly dire but still put a shift in, i wonder if our manager noted the same and accounts for this in tonight’s selection

What we need is an alternative plan. Please remember that upsetting Hemmings et al right now might decrease their willingness to fund the club.

I believe it's best that Ridsdale retires and we bring in a new person who can oversee a new approach - rebuilding for the future and/or selling to new owners. That should be our target, not driving Hemmings away with no Plan B except bankruptcy.

Some League 1 and 2 players, many if not all are on Championship contracts.

There lies the issue. Recruitment. Contract renewals.

It has to change. It’s not good enough. Too many mistakes have been made on top of others.

Personally I think we have a championship squad. Not top end, but better than the likes of Oxford, Plymouth and a few others. What we lack is ambition, fight, confidence etc. This squad can avoid relegation if playing well. The unmotivated players need cleaning out.

Waiting for Ridsdale to retire is the epitome of passive "being patient". We're beyond that stage now. If that "upsets" the owners, tough tits.

I didnt say wait. I said we need an alternative plan. I'm happy to discuss any credible plan forward. If I win the Euromillions tonight I might even have enough money to do something 🙂
