It’s time for a change of manager. This view isn’t based solely on losing to a very good Coventry side tonight, but the performance summed up a bigger issue. Just like last season, he has shown he cannot turn around poor runs of form. We barely laid a glove on Coventry tonight, and that’s the most worrying part. I can accept defeat when the team gives everything, but tonight it simply didn’t look like they did.
His recent comments in the media have also left me feeling that he may have lost belief himself. The players look short of confidence and direction on the pitch.
I’m hoping the club can eventually find new ownership with the willingness to invest and bring fresh ideas. It feels increasingly clear that the Hemmings family no longer have the appetite for the club, but the reality is they remain the owners and there doesn’t appear to be a queue of buyers ready to step in.
Right now the club feels stale from top to bottom. It needs a reset, and that will likely only come through new investment and leadership. Until that happens, though, the current decision-makers still have responsibility. If Peter Ridsdale is the one making the football decisions, then another difficult call may need to be made before the weekend. That is ultimately part of his role.
I was never fully convinced by the Heckingbottom appointment, although in December he did briefly give me hope that something special may happen this season. That makes the current situation even more frustrating. During the entire second half tonight he sat on the bench, and it felt like a manager who knows the situation is slipping away.
I also feel for Stuart McCall, who I think is a very capable coach in his own right. However, loyalty means he will likely go if Heckingbottom does.
At this stage the team needs a new voice and a fresh direction. The change needs to happen now.

He was a real coup when we got him, or so it seemed. It seemed that way again after 15 games this year, but since we lost Armstrong (and Big Dan) all fell badly to shit. It’s time for a change of manager. Sack him tonight
He looks fed up and it’s going the same way as Alex Neil
Doesn’t matter who we get in because it’s the same old shit under this ownership.
Just need to get someone in who can fire these players up for the rest of the season.
Deepdale could get toxic next Friday. Which should be aimed at the board and not PH
Like PH but just think he’s doing more damage being here.

Not in the same league as AN. We really fucked up with him. Sold all his best players for millions and replaced them with shitcunts. Was utterly criminal. I completely understood why AN gave up.Starting to feel like Alex Neil 2.0.

I might be wrong but I thought compensation was agreed upon joining the club? Just like previous managers. He was a real coup when we got him, or so it seemed. It seemed that way again after 15 games this year, but since we lost Armstrong (and Big Dan) all fell badly to shit.

Least you felt like we could always win with Neil. Could've seen what was going to happen tonight last season, just tiresome.I know what you’re trying to say, but that is still an absolute insult to Neil

Agreee but this was the doctrine 12/ 24 months ago. It’s time for a change of manager. We wait.............
Need to see that corner flag picture on the website tomorrow. Had enough.
An issue was not investing well after the sales of Hugill, Robinson and Cunningham. But also failing to sell at peak value the likes of Pearson, Browne, Davies, Barkhuizen, DJ and Riis. Not in the same league as AN. We really fucked up with him. Sold all his best players for millions and replaced them with shitcunts. Was utterly criminal. I completely understood why AN gave up.
Common denominator, 'Football Advisor' Peter Ridsdale. I'm very grateful to the Hemmings family investing £12 million a year. But the fact it's been spent poorly is the issue.

Think Heckingbottom deserves a hell of a lot of credit for the first half of the season. To get this squad in the top 6 is some going. For that basis alone, you'd think he's earned a bit of time.
However, the downturn in form, the disastrous January window and the fact he is persistently making the same mistakes is alarming. Things don't get better from here, only worse, and more toxic.
He also increasingly bears the look of a man to whom dismissal would be a blessing.
