To be fair with the budget he had there was little choice but to renew some players because there simply wasn’t the money to replace them. I’m pretty sure Whiteman’s contract was renewed by Lowe rather than PH. Also if Lowe had worse players they were the players he chose 🙁Hecky has extended deals for Storey, Lindsay, Hughes (twice if he gets his new deal as Hecky wants), Potts, Brady. Can't remember if it was Lowe or Hecky who extended Whiteman by 3 years.
His fault for extending the above if he doesn't rate them. Then compounding this by his signing Smith, Thompson, Walton.
His own fault.

Not according to Alan Kelly we didn’t who pretty much said we were poor all game and outplayed by West Brom to a man
Everyone is entitled to an opinion.
They were all over us first half. We had the better of the chances in the second, but they took theirs.
Shit happens. Was rubbish regardless, but I prefer to be fair with my criticism

The system he plays is just so crap and there was clearly no attempts made to change it last summer.
I dont buy that if we gave him a bigger budget he will then change tactics and formation.

His tactics are rubbish. His negativity on the field is soul destroying, one pass forward, five passes back. His substitutions have cost us points all season. But worse, worse than all of that is his inability to get the players ready to play. His job as a coach is to pick the team that will die on the field for us. That team today would have lost against every single 2nd division team including Barrow because they simply turned up and were not ready to play. That’s his job!!
If he gets up to chugging speed it’ll be an improvement.Suspect it’s going to be a very painful end for Heckingbottom. Can’t see him getting another point and listening to him tonight, I think he knows that as well.
His injury bullshit will also come back to haunt him now Whiteman’s done. Even tonight claiming maybe two, or one, could be back for Wednesday. Brady on bench unable to come on is the only possibility.
Watching Thompson chug around as we get overrun will be horrible. The manager has completely run out of ideas and simply has to go.

💯 this.
He criticises the players for not passing forward, but sets up in a way there’s very little to pass to.
And it’s the same thing with the same players every week. So if they are blatantly ignoring him, why do they keep getting picked?
Moran was the only one who vaguely looked like creating anything - and he was hooked at ht. 🤯
Until the Dobbin miss in injury time, our only chances yesterday came from hoiking it into the box and hoping for the best. It really was Loweball Mk2. (Their keeper didn’t make a proper save all game - and he’s shit.)
On top of that, our lot are ingrained with a ridiculous ‘safety first’ mentality which is actually anything but safe, and is as dull as football can get (in a fixture where we could/should have been playing with freedom).
But the biggest sin was the lack of application/desire by anyone involved; the players, management, coaches - not one gave the impression of being up for the game.
Dying for the shirt? Dying for the beach, more like. 😤

He must go and all the backroom staff. We have had to put up with this back 3 system for a few seasons now, is it a coincidence that the football has been poor in this period, deffo part of the reason. I for one would be happy to see a manager have a go at teams and be more positive going forward, no doubt we would lose some but it’s better than the current boredom we see most weeks.

I still think that had Lowe still have been our manager last season we would definitely have been relegated.
Yet Hecky has a 10x better team this season than Lowe ever had with some of the highest level we’ve had and still would’ve been relegated if it wasn’t for Iversen and is still producing football that’s just as shit and negative

Tbh I don't think he has a system, he just sends eleven players on and tells them to "do your best" 😤The system he plays is just so crap and there was clearly no attempts made to change it last summer.

You could say there would be plenty of League 1 plodders in the same mile and ability as Lindsay and Storey but come with a cheaper wage.To be fair with the budget he had there was little choice but to renew some players because there simply wasn’t the money to replace them. I agree though with the clubs lack of future planning and just looking to survive each season renewing the contracts of them is easier and quicker then looking for replacements and having to negotiate with them

it must be a real "head scratcher" for opposing managers planning their trip to "fortress" Deepdale, now I wonder how they will set up.........................................................yes it is the same 3/5 at the back, a couple of DM's including the crab Whiteman, with Devine, Dobbin and one other, it could be the same every week but PH will worry more about us than using home advantage to make Deepdale a place where they are invincible.
The home fans at Deepdale (us) have been so badly let down these last 5 years with defensive shite being our standard option, PH is every bit as bad as RL, "managers" who NEVER take any blame.

I disagree.Tbh I don't think he has a system, he just sends eleven players on and tells them to "do your best" 😤
He has a system. The issue is the system is that rigid and predictable that's why opposition teams manage to beat us.
I think if he didn't have a system and told the players to 'do your best' we would probably preform better.
Easier to handle losing dead rubbers when you're giving younger players a chance (Small, Moran, Lukovic, Nelson), and trying something new, and taking risks. But he's lined up with 4 CBs and Potts shoehorned into the same old boring set up we've seen for two seasons, and still lost comfortably.

Being poor going forward / having minimal quality in the final third doesn’t mean you’re a defensive team.
The only season we have been truly a defensive team was 23/24 under Lowe. Before that, yeah we lacked quality in key areas, but we weren’t consistently defensive like we were in 23/24.
And regardless, WBA were defensive yesterday and deservedly turned us over.

We are a defensive team. You don’t decide to play hughes and potts as wing backs if your aim is to try and attack the opposition.Being poor going forward / having minimal quality in the final third doesn’t mean you’re a defensive team.

WBA were only defensive in that second half trying to hold onto their lead. In the first half they could have been 3 or 4-0 up.
Also all our attacking stats are pretty poor.
