I agree with the point but tbf Howe signed Trippier, Wood and Gumairies in that window, so disagree regarding same set of players.I keep on seeing people mention that first point. It’s nonsense imo. It’s the managers job to go in and improve the current set of players.
Newcastle were in a mess when Steve Bruce got fired. Eddie Howe went in and their results improved with the same set of players.
He shouldn’t have got a pass for last season. The way we ended it was a disgrace. He had 44 games and failed.

Just Bowler
Simply watch rugby league for enjoyment. Always 100% effort from guys where probably a lot of them earn less than a quarter of an average championship playerThe deciding factor is whether it's interesting or entertaining to watch, rather than going down the road of a game decided by drilled , very skilled athletes, as perfected by Man. City. Take away the on-screen marker pens and the rest of the current technology and the Beeb's M.o.D. would lose it's appeal even more. I just personally don't find it very interesting to watch anymore, though of course I like watching individual goal-scoring talent like Haaland exciting. Then you get a team like Arsenal and its incredibly effective & efficient ( & efficient in the art of gamesmanship, too ) players - and my eyes slowly glaze over watching it. You might enjoy watching Arsenal (1000's do ! ) but I wouldn't watch them out of choice. Because it's not entertaining to me. It's very efficient though.
Consider another game -
American Football.
You could be a fan, - again , 1000's do. Why aren't you ? ( Ay, for all I know, you are.) it's a very physical game, more so than World/U.K. football, employing lots of specialised 'substitutes' , lots of stoppage time for sports drinks breaks & opportunities for tactical advice given to the players ; lots of dead ball opportunities to utilise these "physical chess" moves when the official blows his restart whistle .
(I don't know if it has VAR.or not....but it wouldn't suprise me )
Some of those factors are now transposed ( (as much as practically possible) into Football.
'Comparing that Sport to for example -
World/U.K.Football- Do you enjoy or simply tolerate/accept its....
Increased number of substitutes used,
the ' drinks breaks' , the on-pitch tactical advice, the increasing use of direct free kicks as the now-main way a team try to score, (rather than from open play.)
The both games have more similarities now.... previously Football did not have those as described above happening , which arguably take away some of the flow, the steam, out of the game . (Hence 99% of games have at least 3+ minutes in the first half & at least 5+ minutes in the 2nd ) . This is now accepted, normalised, 'part & parcel'....
Hence a " Put up with it or shut up about it " attitude?
But I reserve my right to moan about how -
I don't appreciate stoppages very much ; I don't appreciate teams which concentrate on dead balls to score from; innumerable substitutions; highly-skilled athletes being very efficient but a bit automatonic; the black arts ( as perfected by Arsenal ) ; the reliance on technology to make many recorded highlights palatable..... it's simply a not very good watch for me - like it could be. It's gone efficiently dull .
You might consider these changes improvements to the game, but it's just the Premier League that's getting away with these 'improvements' and the gap between the Premier League & the other leagues is getting greater every season.
Hecky will not be sacked unless we go down, PR has already stated this, they haven't the money to pay him off.
If Hecky was promised money to buy players and this hasn't materialised then he will be quite rightly pissed off especially when he goes to PR and says this player wants to come and I want him only for PR to say sorry we haven't that sort of money and we are not prepared to pay to pay those wages.
The longer this goes on the worse it will get, we have to understand that the board will keep the club afloat ie paying wages etc but on the ambition front actually investing in signing quality and having to pay a bit extra to do it is a non starter and will never happen.
Its disappointing from a fans point of view but that's it.
I've tried to support PR through this season I think he gets a lot unwarranted stick but that's fairly thin now, its frustrating when it is put to him about spending on the playing staff and he replies " Its their club they can do what they want " that doesn't help anyone.
there is a distinct lack of communication between the hierarchy at the club and the fan base, it needs a go between

He also took a side that finished 10th, 11th and 13th for the last 3 seasons and almost relegated them. Now, now, dont forget PH was allowed to sign the mighty wing pairing of Okkels & Bowler
But that was all the previous managers fault. It was his fault we finished 20th (despite only managing us for one game last season.)
Whose fault is it this season? The owners/Ridsdale? Injuries/squad depth? We can't even compete against a poor Blackburn side.
The fact Hecky gets away with some criticisim from fans is bemusing. A proper ran club would have sacked him last season but fans applauded him for keeping us up and blamed it all on Lowe. Embarrassing.

You can't surely think that if Lowe had been retained for the 24/25 season that things would've magically become all rosy again. 9 defeats in 10, only scored in one of those games. Our squad was absolutely bad enough to be relegated last year.
PH gets the same level of sympathy from me for picking up the pieces as his successor will get for picking up the pieces of the current mess.
When his successor does come in, he'll likely pick up a team with 1 win in 15 games, about to lose 2 of it's best players in Devine & Dobbin and absolutely bereft of confidence. I'm not going to be calling for the next manager's head 40 games in if we are toward the bottom of the table.
I do believe our position last season was reflective of the squad we had. This season, I think we are massively underperforming, and with the current run we are on, I think it is time for a change of manager.

And Dan Burn and Matt Targett - basically players with experience of the prem, and more pertinently, battling relegation in the prem (with the exception of Guimares). Immediate short term impact - just what January window is for.I agree with the point but tbf Howe signed Trippier, Wood and Gumairies in that window, so disagree regarding same set of players.
We signed unfit players and a 'one for the future' on a 4 month contract.
Trouble at Mill for sure.
Whatever has gone so badly wrong is a mystery to me. There’s absolutely no sign at all of it being putright any time soon though.
Relegation looks a very strong possibility now and our only hope is that enough of these “professionals” - manager, coaches, players - understand that their own reputations and future careers will be adversely affected with a relegation on their CV.
Once I see the signs of an actual football team out there I’ll be back on supporting them but not until.

Losing 3-0 in four of those games too.You can't surely think that if Lowe had been retained for the 24/25 season that things would've magically become all rosy again. 9 defeats in 10, only scored in one of those games.
Our squad was absolutely bad enough to be relegated last year.
Yet, worth remembering we lost key leaders like Browne and Cunningham on a free, and had all the budget blown on Jeppe Okkels.
I am confident Lowe would have got us relegated and that he knew that, hence the resignation. It's not as if his record at Wigan is evidence that he was working miracles either, must have had a top ten budget and he got them into the bottom four.

Before the '8 defeats in 10' we also had 7 wins in 14.
Lowe was a very streaky manager. We could go on a good run and then one defeat could suddenly turn to a bad run.
However none of his runs were as bad as 1 win in 15 under Paul Heckingbottom last season and 9 defeats in 13 we are currently on now.

That's meant to be Ridsdale's job but all he does is condescend. He's fucking toxic. Then again I don't really want to listen to his bullshit any more.
I wouldn't say any amount of stick he has had has been unwarranted at all..compared to the managers who always get the brunt of all our complete shitness. It's down to the ownership and Ridsdale's failings as much as anythinf .
Anyway glad to have you on board the good ship Ridsdale/Hemmings out. Quite a few others I know have turned this season.

He would always bundle together a win when about to be fired.
I don't know about PR out, because his hands are tied. He has done some good at the club but the sooner we sell the club and get some people in with ambition the better,That's meant to be Ridsdale's job but all he does is condescend. He's fucking toxic. they keep saying they will sell but only to the right people, not many people wanting to get rid of something really care what they will do with it. I don't think they can let go.
They cannot or will not see that with a bit of speculation ie transfer kitty with some decent money in it and we can attract the right signings. Then if we are doing something the club is worth more and you get more money - simples.
PR has said previously that he was given a pittance last summer for transfers, not the loans as that is a different deal but actual signings.
Our budget apparently 21 out of 24 so no wonder we are slipping down the league.
Friday night will be interesting as Stoke will have A BIG following and that always causes us problems.

Apologies, I think I mistakenly counted the Swansea game, which was Mike Marsh
Hecky needs to inject some confidence and not be afraid of our pitch, other teams don’t seem to have much problem playing more football on it. I’d like to see our better footballers in; Moran, Devine and Dobbin to get some control in midfield. We desperately need to create more chances. That said I feel oddly confident that we’ll get something v Stoke

Talking of the pitch, anyone know if a bit of sun and a bit of artificial sun has improved the pitch over the last week or two?
