Heckingbottom

He also took a side that finished 10th, 11th and 13th for the last 3 seasons and almost relegated them.

But that was all the previous managers fault. It was his fault we finished 20th (despite only managing us for one game last season.)

Whose fault is it this season? The owners/Ridsdale? Injuries/squad depth? We can't even compete against a poor Blackburn side.

The fact Hecky gets away with some criticisim from fans is bemusing. A proper ran club would have sacked him last season but fans applauded him for keeping us up and blamed it all on Lowe. Embarrassing.
Eh?

You can't surely think that if Lowe had been retained for the 24/25 season that things would've magically become all rosy again. 9 defeats in 10, only scored in one of those games. Our squad was absolutely bad enough to be relegated last year.

PH gets the same level of sympathy from me for picking up the pieces as his successor will get for picking up the pieces of the current mess.

When his successor does come in, he'll likely pick up a team with 1 win in 15 games, about to lose 2 of it's best players in Devine & Dobbin and absolutely bereft of confidence. I'm not going to be calling for the next manager's head 40 games in if we are toward the bottom of the table.

I do believe our position last season was reflective of the squad we had. This season, I think we are massively underperforming, and with the current run we are on, I think it is time for a change of manager.

….Don’t forget the inheritance of a shit pitch.

Just read his latest interview and he's really starting to grate on me now. Definitely hit that "be grateful for what you've got" attitude, talking about bottom 3 budgets etc. Where's the "be the best in your market" and "don't worry about what others spend" attitude gone? If he's now the latest to accept mediocrity as the best we can manage, I want him gone as much as the owners.
After the utter garbage he's served up since Bristol City, along with spaffing our entire transfer budget on a proven crock, he's got some balls to be demanding the fans turn up tomorrow.

If that’s the performance of a team who’s no longer playing for the manager (obviously complete bollocks), then we’d be world beaters if they were playing for him!

Organised, efficient, and ran their socks off.
Nice to see he's finally realised that starting Dobbin and Devine results in a better performance! Would love to know why he forgot that for 2 months...

Or - the pitch was finally in a state where you can play that way.

We tried to play the same way against Wigan in the cup. Didn’t go well.

Any suggestion we’ve been poor for a couple months because Dobbin and Devine haven’t always both started is, of course, complete simplistic guff. Very on-brand, mind.

Agreed, if it was as simple as that I'm pretty sure he'd have figured it out ages ago 😂.

Everybody dropped off since January and I suppose we'll never truly know the full extent of it.

To be fair I'll accept that in part because I'd forgotten they'd started together in our last home game - on a worse pitch. Which would suggest you're clutching at straws in your defence of PH especially given we've played on some carpets lately too.

You've been trying very hard recently to defend an indefensible record. One win and you think that makes you right. I'm sure there's a word for that...

He's missed some pretty obvious ones recently to be fair. Like finally trying 4 at the back, but doing it with 4 centre halves whilst having a bench full of full/wing backs.

Yeah it'd be better to wait till end of the season. No point making a change now. Heckingbottom has got 9 games to try keep his job. If we're still poor, then move him on and see who's available in the summer.
Still this. Just seven games instead of nine.

Good performance and result today. If can carry on similar until the end of the season, then no issues with him staying on.

He needs to try build on this result to get the morale and confidence back up again to what it was before this awful run.

I wasn’t defending his record - I was defending the nonsense that the players have stopped playing for him. Absolute guff which NPCs can get away with saying because it’s impossible to officially disprove.
