Heckingbottom

Probably worth starting to think ahead a bit now. The Hemmings era is gently winding down, and under Zedan we’re no longer quite the small fish in a big pond, more a slightly more confident fish in the same pond, but with better posture.

Hopefully the days of being gently reminded to keep wages and ambition neatly in check are behind us!!
This thinking ahead is probably quite a lot more than "a bit" 😂
Even if we achieve promotion somehow under Hecky then what? Did you see his record in the Premier league with Sheff Utd.

Really hope some of them that say they will only return when Hemmings and Ridsdale leave come back. A few extra thousand on each week will help.

Assuming PR does leave the club that is.
Reading Swisswhite's comments, it sounds like they have not been impressed with the way the club has been run, so I assume it will be the end of Ridsdale (with us)

So Stevey G at Burnley or Bristol City

Would you take Parker at Preston?

Difficult to turn a nose up at a manager with 3 promotions out of the division.

Two massive caveats though:

1) On each occasion he has had stupidly good squads which should have been well capable of going up. For example, his Fulham team contained Mitrovic who scored 40 odd goals and they finished in the playoffs.

2) If people think Hecky is boring, negative and inflexible - boy are they in for a shock.

Burnley conceded 16 goals I think last season and got 100 points through being incredibly difficult to beat (something we were excellent at in the first half of the season) but now they are getting battered every week and their fans are bored to tears.

So it's a weird one - 3 promotions gives him a lot of credentials but I personally do not rate him at at all. Would love to see how he gets on at a team that isn't full of stars.

I suspect it wouldn't be great.

Don't disagree with anything you've written, just want to clarify though that Mitrovich's 40+ goal season happened under Marco Silva

Under Parker Mitrovich got 26 in the Championship then, to reinforce your point about how dull Parker-ball is, he got 3 in 27 in the EPL.

Still had stupidly good squads and arguably underperformed with a couple of them (Bournemouth in particular)

Thanks, must have got my seasons mixed up as it was difficult to keep up with these yo-yo sides like Fulham and Bournemouth at the time.

But yeah it really doesn't do anything to change the point does it - basically neutered and absolute monster 😂 The fact that Mitro still bagged 26 is probably more credit to him than SP.

I always felt he underperformed with them too. But it is difficult to make that argument if the ultimate aim is promotion. If he took a job at a team with lesser resources, I think fans would turn very quickly.

I'm pretty certain we won't change managers in the summer, but if PH doesn't show any signs of improvement, I'd be monitoring Corberan's situation who will probably be sacked if he doesn't get off to a good start next season.
Glad someone made that suggestion before me. Was gonna suggest him but thought I’d get pelters for being unrealistic

He’d be my first post-takeover manager

I tend to agree but if the projected takeover deal does go through then I doubt PH or any other manager will enjoy the leeway PH has had this season. If Mr Zedan does take over then you imagine he will bring some elements of American business culture with him and that is a cultute that does not tend to tolerate failure or even under-performance.

You do tend to get more leeway when you're one of the lowest spenders in the division.

With more money spent comes more expectation, so you don't get the luxury anymore of a lot of patience.

No idea what sort of money we'll be talking about under Zedan. Corberan will be on good money at Valencia, but his demands would obviously drop a lot after a failed spell with them.

The 10 years of not going anywhere comment is spot on but it isn't impatience. Have you seen the Gary Lineker quotes about Leicester's last ten years? Literally won the prem and FA cup, got into Europe, promotion, relegation. In all that time...we've done absolutely nothing. I would have loved a tenth of what they've had.

I would feel better if we were building towards something. I absolutely guarantee you that had Lang's money been spent on 2 players under the age of 23, I'd be fighting Heck's corner. That signing has ultimately floored me in my support of as it shows he's a self preservation merchant. That signing should have been stopped by Ridsdale as it wasn't in PNE's interest, it was in Heck's.

Couple with 5 at the back and no improvement in performance or entertainment between this and the despised Lowe and there is nothing left to defend.

Lang will damage us the way the Carter and Bayliss signings did without the new Zedan era. Mark my words and my words were bang on when I called it from day one as a shite signing.
I completely agree about the 10 years doing nothing! I just mean impatience in terms of how much time fans are willing to give a manager. Even then I think there's a wider issue in society with this sort of thing even outside of North End.

With the Lang signing, it wasn't a good signing and I had my concerns at the time due to his injury record. I don't think it's going to do us serious harm as a signing. No one individual signing does a club serious harm. Plus in terms of Hecky's record with signings overall, he's got a good record. I don't think the Lang signing is even symbolic of what Hecky would be like with more money because the Lang signing was in as much a symptom of our lack of a budget. We needed cover for Dobbin and it was decided that Lang was the best we could afford.

As others, including Heckingbottom and McCall have highlighted, we play the back 5 because of the quality within the squad. 5 at the back isn't even necessarily Heckingbottom's preferred formation. He did it at Sheff Utd because that's what that squad was built for. He didn't play it so much with his other jobs.
