Heckingbottom

As I’ve said, Devine has been battling illness and he blew up. We didn’t even get any worse when JT came on.

I wouldn’t have brought Brady on, but Moran was pretty average (again) and tiring. McCann not fit enough to warrant risking, so Brady it was. Context is important.
Id sooner bring Brady on than McCann when chasing a game. A midfield of Whiteman McCann and Thompson would've been a terrible watch.

I'm no fan of Thompson but I'm not against the sub based on context, he has good ball striking which can be good for putting balls in the box which we do a lot.

Think if anything it shows our lack of depth and injuries.

I think Paul and Stuart will get at least 3 months into the new season and I hope with some financial support they can do well.

Unlike the current incumbents I have no doubt that if they are not performing, the new owners will not hesitate in getting rid.

why give this pair of average performers the summer to bring players in and then sack them, all the management team need sacking tomorrow with a new team not wedded to a defensive mindset brought in, 3 fuckin home wins since 5th November is shocking as is his win ratio, teams pitch up at Deepdale knowing how we will set up and don't usually struggle, bite the bullet and get rid of the lot.

I wouldn't be arsed either way Billy but I just think that the new ownership will give them a go.

I may be totally wrong, just a feeling.

I’m starting to think they’ve been given the decision that they’re staying. If they are, I hope the new owner won’t take long to work it out.

I didn’t want him to be here next season anyway but the reversion to that back 5, no youngster on the bench to maybe throw on when McCann was obviously never going to play. His disciplinary record, his defence of Murphy, I just don’t get it. Lukovic.

Totally agree .Only thing we will get if him and Mcall get money will just be better players still playing the crap rigid formation we have had over the last 2 years .I keep saying we need a younger management team with new ideas , new formations etc .a clean sweep.

For me we just don’t score enough goals. We also never fight back in games (Sheff u away) - I was amazed we got it back to 2-1. Also we concede some ridiculous goals. Nice guy and speaks well but it’s your job to FIX IT! You’re not summarising for Sky Paul - you’re the bloody manager!

Look at the stats .Most of teams relegated this season ,examples burnley and wolves from prem play 3 at the back .No one gets promotion anymore playing this system .

Please Mr Zendan don't waste another transfer window and time on Hecky.... good manager and man but sorry.... way to negative...the scourge of the modern game....fresh start all round please.

Absolutely nails it Billy.

Bad example with wolves. Wolves got promoted with that system and have done well in the prem with that system.
Hate the system but just think wolves are a bad example to use.

I don't even think 3ATB is bad, it's just misused. Wilder's 3ATB system was brilliant. However we absolutely need to shift to a 4ATB system now, it's been years since we properly had one and modern teams mainly use that now I think?

I’ve absolutely no idea how he’s highly rated and why people are desperate to keep him.

We can definitely replace his mighty 8 goals this season and we might actually get more games out of his replacement!

And one assist

Honestly his lack of contribution to our play goes really under the radar. Doesn't hold the ball up, doesn't close anyone down effectively. He's a one dimensional striker.

I think this is the most likely outcome, too. 👍

He’s not got much credit in the bank though and there’s an obvious risk of bringing in a new guy in the Autumn who hasn’t had a pre-season and hasn’t got his own players in.

It’s a tough call, but if he does get kept on, he’s a lucky lad.

I’m not bothered if he stays or goes, but if he gets some money behind him, he’s going to have to be more positive in matches.

No excuses.

No excuses.
The main problem I have with PH & SMc combination is his reliance on the very negative 5-3-2 formation and that in the main he is very, very reluctant to change, even when we do not have the players to perform in that system.
This combined with his CM selections that are mainly deep lying defensively minded so we play with little attacking flair.
I'm not sure that even with investment in the playing squad he would change his system.
Just like you not really that bothered if he stays or goes, due to the poor end to the season I probably marginally favour the latter.

I worry that keeping Hecky in charge will just lead to another wasted season in the Championship. He’s shown little willingness to change his system or formation, and that lack of flexibility could really hurt us especially given how strong the league is shaping up to be next year.

With teams coming down from the Premier League, plus the sides who miss out on promotion through the playoffs, the competition will be even tougher. If Bolton also come up, we’re looking at multiple high-intensity local derbies against Burnley and Blackburn, which only adds to the challenge.

Personally, I think it would make more sense to bring in a new manager now. That way, they’d have a full pre-season to implement their ideas and bring in players that suit their style. Waiting until January risks another reset mid-season, which usually ends up costing more time and points.

if a change is going to happen, it’s better to do it early and give the new manager the best possible chance to succeed.

The last game was a small opportunity to try out one or two of the lads who haven't played very much , yet it was treated by H.& M. as just another mid season home game.
H. & M. appear to have limited imagination.
When we conceded that second goal early in the second half we needed to see more attacking change.
Yes Osmajic was brought on, but Thompson for Devine showing real attacking intent.
We then bing Brady on for Moran ?
Why not give Small a chance, send him on, give him the instructions that he can attack go past his marker get in crosses and create chances and not to worry too much about defending.
Just like the player we signed, but have tried to make him into a defensive wing back and knocked all the confidence out of him with defensive coaching.🥴🙁

Genuinely surprised no one has made this point but Southampton were on a huge unbeaten run before they got beat by Man City including beating Arsenal. If you play a 4 back and go like for like against a team where every single player is a lot better than ours (Dobbin/ Devine excluded) we’d get beat heavily. It’s one thing playing a 4 back against Sheffield United who have a leaky defence and struggled this season, it’s another against the best team in the league. And changing the system actually meant we gave them a very good game and might’ve got something if it wasn’t for poor defensive errors
