Ian Ashbee PNE captain

[dylanesque]

I wonder whether Phil Brown will make Ash our new captain? SSL does not strike me as a talker or natural leader. It will be interesting seeing the team sheet tonight .

Brown said on a interview on the clubs website that SSL will be the club captain for now.

I guess he has to be diplomatic about the situation but no way is SSL a captain

Yes, but club captain and team captain are two different things....aren't they?

I don't think it would be a sensible move to actually give Ashbee the armband just yet. It would send out a message to our other players (and particularly the ones who have previously been selected as captain) that they lack leadership ability. This is true of course but it's probably still best not to ram it down their throats!

Ian Ashbee won't need the armband to influence proceedings on the pitch. Once he's got to know the other players a bit more I'm sure he'll be just as forthright and committed a leader and talker without the armband as he would be with it.
