who in this current squad ever puts his foot on the ball and thinks before passing...nobody.
Certainly not Mckenna!
It's either the ball back to Youl putting him under pressure or the blind hoof over the shoulder to the ball boy behind the goal.

Williamson and Macca was the dream ticket, thats now history, unless we get a Michael Brown type and ANO we will IMHO struggle home and away, who in this current squad ever puts his foot on the ball and thinks before passing...nobody.Thats what 450 games under your belt gives you.Shame.

all williamson did was prove beyond any reasonable doubt that to get the best out of mckenna you provide him with a partner who will provide his legs and provide a bit of bite and drive in midfield, chaplow did this before williamson. Hes not been able to impose himself on a game for the last 2 years when hes been asked to be a purely defensive player. He tries, but he simply cant do it.
McKennas always been the type of player who has the awareness to keep posession well and make good decisions, its got nothing to do with the "450 games under his belt", its just the type of player he is.
Ultimately though, we have a million pound rated midfielder with prem experience and a player with european football under his belt who are simply unable to play with McKenna because for all his experience, he cant provide the attributes and the platform needed for them to perform unfortunately. If we sign any purely creative midfielder and partner him with McKenna, we are gonna see the same thing happen again and see more money we havent got wasted.

If any member of this forum, and I include myself, were to be given the opportunity to manage any professional club for a week, they would either give up, or be thrown out on their arse, by morning tea break on the first day
Jaymo, I know you think I am always having a go at you but your post is meaningless. Tell us your footballing experience to make such long-winded judgements. How the hell can you judge who can play with whom? You are not quite in the extreme camp but let me quote an extract from Rod Liddle (a major sports commentator on the Sunday Times):
"Football fans are almost always wrong; wrong about team selection, wrong about the manager, and so on. The best clubs ensure that the supporters don't have to pay too much to get in and are decently treated while watching their team, but otherwise ignore the demands from the terrace".

Who this???!!
carter, who we rated at more then a million pounds.
Simpson rated him at more than a million pound, this is also the same manager who thought Kawl Hawley could play at CCC level, and replace David Nugent.
To be fair, no-one was complaining when we signed Carter - he was rated by most as a very good signing.
I was one that was happy with the signing of Carter but he's been a major disapointment. Whenever I had seen him he looked a good player always getting involved. At PNE he doesn't look interested, but there have been glimpses of a decent player in there.
As for Nicholls, I knew he would be a waste of money as injuries had took there toll. He also wasn't great whilst at Luton but could go around fouling allover the pitch.

who derek sanctioned.
and lets not continue with the "Hawley was Nugents replacement" myth because it simply isnt true. Hawley was brought in as a squad player and it was made very clear at the time.
but could go around fouling allover the pitch.
I remember Nicholls debut in a friendly. He ran around like a knob for the whole match and was rarely within 20ft of the ball. When it did come near him someone from the opposition generally ended up being put on their arse. He was shocking.
Did we get him on a free or was it for a nominal amount?
I can't remember. Just wondering, like, why bother wasting money on a squad player when it is blatantly obvious we need a replacement for our top striker?
Nicholls was one of the biggest cloggers I've ever seen at North End. No talent whatsoever. Crap player.
