I was under the impression that the land for the proposed training ground at Ingol had been transferred into the ownership of the club, can anyone confirm if this is correct. If this is the case the club should receive a tidy sum if the land is used for housing.

It was, but I hope the council tell them NO, If Newts stopped the Training Ground, it should stop New Houses.

The new planning application is just to squeeze more houses onto the land already earmarked for housing. They apparently only built 402 of the "up to 450" units consented under the original planning permission. But because that permission has now expired, they are submitting a modified plan to develop the original plot with another 164 units, rather than the 48 originally envisaged.

This won't be on the land now owned by PNE's holding company.

Paul Faulkner has got his facts wrong then. Or is he just shit stirring?

Which was a question I raised the other day. I wonder if the land at Ingol would be included with the sale of the club because if the permission can be changed for houses surely 5hat would be an incentive for any new owners.

Is there not a park? I’m sure I remember mention of a park.
I think some of the originally intended green spaces are the ones they want to squeeze some extra houses onto.

Their "Planning and supporting statements (PDF)" in the application (it's application 06/2024/0772) has quite some brass neck IMO - they say the increase in the number of houses should be fine because, although the area was all green fields back in 2017, it now has residential usage, and has lost its green space usage, so a load more houses is in-keeping with that.

And they didn't think it was necessary to have another public consultation because they had one last time - "2,500 leaflets were delivered to the surrounding area, along with adverts placed in a PNE matchday programme and a press release to the Lancashire Evening Post" and the comments received "generally related to the principle of development and the loss of the current usage" - they make no mention of the PNE training ground, which obviously convinced most PNE fans to comment in favour of development! Not mentioned because it's conspicuous by its absence, of course.

Does the land belong to Hemmings holdings or PNE. Was it all another TH con trick with his Riddler side kick. We are unlikely to ever know unless the Riddler gets shown the door.

All the properties (tangible assets), including the stadium and the Ingol land, are held in PNE Ltd, which is the parent company of the actual football club (PNEFC Ltd) - and the whole lot is then further grouped under a UK holding company. But the same IoM trust owns everything.

The headline for a start, if what you say is correct?
The headline is correct - more homes are planned for the former Ingol golf course, and the former Ingol golf course was once earmarked for a new PNE training ground.

If you read the article, the only mention of us is:

When outline planning permission was controversially granted for the redevelopment of the course in 2017, up to 450 dwellings were to be permitted.

At that time, the site was also to house a proposed new first-team training facility for Preston North End. However, the plan was never realised and the club purchased Wigan Athletic’s training ground in Euxton in 2020.

Which is all factually correct.

Agree, but it is implied that houses will be built on the land earmarked for the training ground, which is owned by the football club; this being the case in the first instance any profit from this development should go to the football club not the parent company. The fact the board could legitimately then transfer the money to the Hemmings family is something we cannot influence, but we can question how ambitious the family are to get the club promoted when this money is a profit they had not foreseen and therefore could be kept by the club and used to offset any losses in FFP calculations.
