Is Mayor the future? (Merged)

Is Mayor the future? (Merged)

I remember a night match at Gresty road when Mawene had Ashton in his pocket. :gentry:

the season he left wasnt it (ashton I mean). He didnt look the player who had scored about 20 before xmas that night.

Like Hunter says though, Mawene was absolutely top drawer pre injury though.:youl:

I seriously miss the old youl :youl:

Ashton? There were plenty crowing about him since his Crewe days, including me.

to be fair he mentioned him before hed made a name for himself. when the forum broke not so long ago a poll directed to an old Voldemort thread and the majority of the players he was naming had turned out to be good players.

His problem is he doesnt understand you cant

a) sign every promising player in the world, and that other people are interested in these players as well.

b) you need to have a balance of grit and experience as well as youth and flair.

If he was our manager, with his team selections, we would go down quicker then Linda Lovelace on ice.

Mawene had been looking back to his best recently. God help us if he isn't back tomorrow.

No, Jaymo we would now be in the Prem GUARANTEED !! It would have been a no brainer because in Derek's position I would have set the criteria (keeping the manager on the straight and narrow) that would have avoided £2 million wages wasted annually on:

Henderson, Chilvers,Hart, Jarrett, Nicholls, Carter, Neal, Ormerod, Elliott, Anyinsah, Nicholson, Hawley, Brown and a few others.

The above players are the reason PNE have now got themselves into a financial mess. but the club don't want you to know this. So good are these players that several of them cannot be given away ! While with the others we would make a huge loss if they were sold. Anyone wanting to contradict me about the above then please do so. I'd like to hear your arguments ?

Lillywhite you use words you do not understand which makes you ignorant.

Would you now like to provide everyone on here with the true definition of a "Cockney" ? Your factual answer will condemn you my dear boy.

For the record mate, I talk complete sense. Just you chose to ignore it. My factual answer is based on opinion so isn't really factual but hey-ho. A cockney is a person from London who can't find his way to wipe his arse with bog roll!

You can't guarantee a damn thing.

We could make great young signings by the dozen, and profit on them all. But we don't have the success rate available by hindsight, or by the fact that some players don't mesh. Fact.

Also, you continually fail to address the need for defensive capablities in the midfield.

Every successful team has this. You seem to want 6 attacking players- a strategy which would see us outfought and muscled by teams that know how to defend and counter.

I notice Parkins slowly slipped off your list.

I have absolute no wish to take you on, its utterly pointless, but it would be nice to live in your world.

you couldnt guarantee prem football, I could give you 20m tomorrow and it wouldnt guarantee prem football. Now that is a FACT.

And if you were chairman, you'd be keeping the manager on the straight and narrow, but you wouldnt have a manager and the fans would hate you for constantly meddling in football affairs.

as for your list of players, well
if it werent for Brown, we would be sitting in league one right now.
Chilvers has looked a good championship defender (and an FA cup youth winner with Arsenal).
as has Hart.
Its only with the beauty of hindsight that you can say Ormerod (a free from a prem side BTW) was a waste of money, without his injury he wouldnt have been.
Henderson played about 3 games, looked ok ands been seriously unlucky with injuries, no one could have foreseen that, not even you.
Nicholson played a big part in the success of the first 8 games and is clearly drained of confidence, ill give it at least till next season before I pass my judgement.

The others ill give you.

It would be brilliant to live in your black and white world where you can play 8 players with no idea how to defend because the other 3 will "do what they are paid to do", there are no extenuating circumstances as to why a player can be out of form and you believe that PNE can compete for signings with anyone in the division.

Unfortunately life, and football, isnt like that, and the more you protest as to the opposite, the more you unfortunately show a lack of understanding. Like ive said earlier, you have pointed out some excellent players in the past and do talk some sense, but you show an alarming lack of sense when it comes to team selection and how to build a squad.

Can you name more then one team that has been successful without one single midfielder who has a more defensive mindset?

Jaymo "hindsight" you say. How many times do I have to address this issue ? Countless times I've been on here denouncing players we were about to sign because I knew they were inept. Go back over all the posts and you will see I was outspoken at the time about these players in my condemnation.

I stated at the time Jaymo not with "hindsight" and that is what hacks so many people off on here that I get it right more often than the "professionals" that being our manager who has just shipped out Mayor on loan when he should have been thrown into our first team. Notice Irvine's comments, he talks about these youngsters hopefully attracting other clubs to be loaned out to when what he should be damned well saying is they will soon be given their PNE debut. Such a prospect just might give several senior players the kick up the rear they need. Does Irvine think he has a squad of Real Madrid type players ! He is steadily losing it especially with his comments tonight.

You've denounced just about every player North End have signed in the last ten years.

Jon Parkin was immediately denounced when you re-raised your head on this board yet, as previously mentioned, you've suddenly gone quiet following his performance and goals. Strange that.

Its the same with managers.

You've slagged off the decision to appoint EVERY manager since Gary Peters and banged on about it in the available press. Then you either go quiet because said manager has been a success or walk around with an air 'of I told you so' when they are sacked.

David Moyes must have REALLY pissed you off! Appointed by Bryan Gray despite your constant calls for Bruce Rioch to take the reigns he got North End away from relegation, to the playoff semis, promoted and then to a Playoff Final before leaving for A PREMIERSHIP club. How you must have cried because for four years there was never a chance to say "I told you so".

If you carry on throughout this life with a constant negitive attitude then of course you're going to get results because that is football, even for the likes of Manchester United.

People stopped listening to you many many years ago.

Saville I didn't denounce Nugent, Nash, Fuller, Davis, Mawene, Macken,St.Ledger, Appleton and quite a few others. Now observe the players I mentioned and tell me the obvious aspect about each of them ? Let's see if you know ?

As for Moyes, I quote "That goal by LuaLua last night was down to bad defending by our defence." That being the 40 yard diagonal run LuaLua had set off on beating 3 of our defenders before planting the ball in the back of our net. LuaLua was just 18 at the time he was still just below the radar of the big clubs. We could have sigend him. The rest is history.

You didn't denounce about 10 players in as many years. Probably because you just didn't get round to it/were busy bothering Hammers on one of those players' off-days.

Let's be honest, you're just a sad twat who hasn't discovered Football Manager yet and sits wanking at home whenever an opportunity to say "I told you so" comes along. Tell me I'm wrong.

Lua Lua hardly set the Premier League alight!!

Norky you completelymiss the point. He would have destroyed many defences in the Championship and when sold he would have generated a huge profit that could have then been re-invested in the next best youngsters coming through.

IF HE WAS AS GOOD AS/ready as you say he is he would have been at least on the bench if not given a start to be seen by us prestonians rather than built up by an ex pat in the home counties.

BC9, naive in the extreme readily springs to mind. Do you not understand the game that is being played here by our manager ? Learn to read between the lines.
