Whaley was class around that time on counter attacks with Nuge. He had a real fall from grace in his career in the years after.

He was my favourite player.
He used to get his hair cut at Stocksy’s, same as me, and I'd often ask Stocksy what he was like.

One day, I was sitting in the chair mid haircut, and he only walked in. I remember Stocksy telling Whaley how big a fan I was. Whaley didn’t say much, he just went outside to his car and walked back in about 30 seconds later with some Forest away tickets. I was absolutely buzzing!

When we signed him Bury fans said he was better than Nugent. Their careers ended up in completely different directions. Last time I saw Whaley play was for Chorley against Fylde. He was subbed after about an hour.
