January 2026 - Transfer Rumours and Discussions

One signing and people on Twitter have gone from moaning about the window to convincing themselves we’re signing Archer 🤦‍♂️
Because I wasn't exstactic on there I have been told in inbox if I am seen on Deepdale I am going to get a Slap. I replied thats ok I can take a slap, I have a Wife, But could they take a punch? They blocked me. Bunch of fucking weird c*nts on there.

Might be just me, we have the forwards, the defence is good on its day, we have midfield spoilers but what we don’t have is a proper ball holding midfielder and more importantly a creative midfielder. Forwards continually chasing long balls from the keeper in the last 4 games.

Bowler and greenwood had loan to buys which were affordable, Devine and luckovic will no doubt be 4m+ each. Under this ownership 1 is doable at best. I get that it looks like there willing to spend but there is no point having another loan with a buy option. Most fans know they won’t ever do it. Even the Devine one although we all want it I still looking 50/50 under this ownership.
Spoiler: it was not in fact 50/50.

If we get Armstrong back that might help

Not sure why everyone is complaining about there being no option, when was the last time we actually activated an option on a player? unless were taken over, we wouldnt be able to afford the option anyway
I think most people's issue is that with limited funds we're spaffing what little we do have on a loan with no future at the club and no likelihood of firing us into a better future.

I have no idea what he's costing us, but for example if its 20k/week for 6 months, thats nearly half a million.

Would that not be better spent on a prospect who we could develop, improve and maybe fire us to promotion in the future, or if not then someone we could at least sell at a profit and replace with someone else who might?

I get that view. But (hard though it is to believe) we’re still only a point outside the play offs with about 17 matches to go.
Half a mil doesn’t go far in the transfer market and maybe an option was not negotiable… and if ever there was a time for a bit of short-termism, then it is probably now.

I understand your point but where would that leave us in the short term. We signed Small in the summer who whilst promising is far from the finished article, especially when it comes to defending. Also with strikers, the prices are crazy, a half decent League 1 strikers with no championship experience are going for £2M-£3M. So to get a team that is remotely competitive we will have to use the loan market. In the medium term we need to sharpen up our recruitment process and sort out our Cat 2 academy status, selling players rather than allowing them to run down their contracts would also help.

In reality Al , it's only 4 months and I don't think that he will be on anywhere near £20k a week , maybe 5-10k...

So that is 16 weeks at a maximum of 10k = 160k

That said , I take your point, but that is football in modern times ... You have to pay, even for short term loans on players you have no chance of ever owning
