January 2027 - Transfer Rumours and Discussions
Oh, bloody hell. Like you say, here we go. How many pages for this thread?
I think Browne is kind of an inevitable signing, with how we are currently performing.
A 2 year deal though, at the very most!

Are there any free agents we can bring in?
Ryan Kent anyone?

What does this say @keithaw?
If, as we all hope, Headinbottom is going to be gone, I'd personally rather leave space in the squad for a new man to be able to add a couple of his own players in January. Are there any free agents we can bring in?
Ryan Kent anyone?
Anyone read it?
Mental decision by Sunderland. It was never AB’s wage that was an issue, it was Sunderland.
On TDD, we were still working on this deal (as well as 2 others - I did say we were working on 3 … 2 of those were completed)
They tried to call our bluff right until the end but sadly the only person this has affected is AB who misses out on a few months of football

There was a report afterwards that the disagreement was on the length of contract we were willing to offer Browne.
Is this false then?

Bonkers decision from Sunderland. Unless Alan has been kicking cones over in training. Even so, he can’t play for anyone until January, can he?
Nope, can't play anywhere else until then now.

He could go to Saudi as their window doesn’t shut until October.Bonkers decision from Sunderland. Unless Alan has been kicking cones over in training. Even so, he can’t play for anyone until January, can he?
If we were to agree to sign him, it would be interesting to see if he could train with us from an insurance point of view (I assume he would).
Does he have any coaching qualifications? Could he come in as caretaker manager? He could go to Saudi as their window doesn’t shut until October.

That would be an interesting choice, and very risky, if we are discounting managers who have managed at lower level,Does he have any coaching qualifications? Could he come in as caretaker manager?
I would think bringing in someone without any experience is a non-starter.

Liam Gibbs looks like a poor man’s Alan Browne rather than a McCann replacement, which suggests he was a panic buy when the Browne deal fell through - the fact that it was completed several hours before the deadline rather than very last minute lines more up with it being Browne that wouldn’t shift on his contract length rather than Sunderland holding out on the deal
Reports of our demise are greatly exaggerated. Currently one point from safety. If Sunderland pay him up, AB, so that he’s no longer attached to a club, then surely we can sign him up straight away if we can agree a contract suitable to both parties.
He would have to become a free agent before the window ended for us to sign him now. I think we can negotiate so he joins in Jan. But he won’t sign for us till the next window.Reports of our demise are greatly exaggerated. Currently one point from safety.
