Not to to one of those warm Mediterranean or Canary Island climes some of you seem to find your way to at this time of the year but the chill of East Anglia - indeed Ipswich. I will be staying there at a friend's for the next three nights and will be there to support the lads on Saturday afternoon. Like everyone I am dismayed even a bit demoralised by the run of results this month but even more so by the manner of them a sequence of listless, at times seemingly apathetic error-strewn displays.

I ought to be used to it having supported the team for as long as I have and I have aways said that supporting this team is rollercoaster ride that gives you lows and highs like nothing else. I can certainly remember abject runs like this before and also that we tend to reverse them as sharply as we started them. Maybe we will this time starting on Saturday.

There are reasons not to think so - mainly that so far we have done nothing to remedy what I see as the fundamental weakness of the side the lack of drive, leadership and invention from central midfield. But on the other hand every match is a fresh start, at some point we will get the energising effect of a goal, it looks like we may have a least one new face in the squad, the recent returnees should have more match sharpness, we surely can't make the same basic errors as last time again. Let's see.

As I said these have not been a good few weeks but you support your team when things are rough not least to give you the feeling that when they are good you have earned the right to enjoy them that bit more. Am I wonder the first to hit the road for the next match. Whatever for all those going on Saturday see you there and let's hope we are given an experience to enjoy and be proud of.

Safe trip Ernest and enjoy the weekend.
I will be setting off tomorrow morning and spending 2 nights in Bury St Edmunds.
My last trip to Portman rd was 30th April 2011 and we were already relegated under Phil Brown and lost 2-1.

We are currently winning 16-14 in games.

Up The Lilywhites.

Enjoy the trip Ernie. Loving the paragraphs btw.

I was at the 2011 game. Awful. Thought Jamie Proctor was the only one of the young lads who looked like he might make a footballer.

Bury is a lovely town with some cracking pubs. It obviously helps if you like Greene King but you’ll probably find some Adnams and, if you’re lucky, the excellent Woodforde’s Wherry.

Just leaving , on my own , COYW …

I’ve been a couple of times and can’t confirm it’s a heck of a long trip. Well done to all those who’ve made the the effort.
We lost to a really good promotion team a couple of years ago and the other time Gally had to go in goal and saved a pen in a 1-1 draw. Today, it’s odds on that they win after our terrible run but who knows ? Bad runs come to an end as well as good ones and I think we’ve the best squad in years. Coyw/y/b

Maxwells final appearance for us.
It was obviously the final straw for Neil.
Ipswich’s relegation season so they’ve changed division the last 2 times we’ve played there and this season may make it a 3rd.
