I did start a thread and it was moved, but feel it deserves a thread of its own.

‘Not welcome at Deepdale whilst Peters in charge’

‘Turned down the job when offered it when we was in League 1’ Would have been when Westley went surely? Or before.

‘Applied since, but wont be appointed whilst Peters the chairman’ (due to turning us down previously I think)

‘Took a pay cut to go Derby, wanted a pay rise for his staff, which was refused by Derek Shaw’

‘Its his destiny to take us to the Premier League’

‘Ready to get back into management after a legal dispute and taking time out for family health reasons, and studying at University’

Looking forward to part 2 of the interview. Comes across quite well.

Genuinely, would you’s have him back if it went tits up with Hecky? (I like Hecky btw)

The pay rise was for the North End staff and players for all the hard work they had put in over 2 seasons. Derek Shaw wouldn't sanction it and that's why he moved on. Said he would gladly have stayed another year to complete the job. Instead he did it with Derby.

Ive absolutely no doubt had he stayed we’d have gone up that year.
We were top in November, Simpson famously didn’t change a thing from Davies’ regime.
Billy came out as Derby manager and said he had to 2 teams at the top of the Championship.

Simpson changed it up, we finish 7th, Derby go up.

I'd sooner have Alex Neil, Simon Grayson, or Alan Irvine back before him (although really there are plenty of better options available even without looking at previous managers). Davies has been out of work for too long and seems to fall out with people wherever he goes. If he's so desperate to get back into work, why doesn't he try getting in at a lower level to prove himself rather than applying for the job with us over and over again?

He's 61 in May and he's been out the game for 10 years.

Anybody who says they want him back is delusional or a nostalgia merchant.

Although I agree, I said on Saturday that for us to ever be successful again (if we we ever were) we need to do something different. Virtually all teams play a similar way, virtually all teams have a similar style of manager, a manager who’s been through his badges in a prescribed way and using similar course content.

To a degree, we might have that difference with Heckingbottom as he seems much more flexible than others we’ve had. However, Davies might well have been that gamble or different approach we need. Of course, he probably wouldn’t have been and we might have ended up goimg down. But on this current trajectory, that’s a probability eventuality anyway.

good to see that Ridsdale does make the odd good decision for the club.

Well done Peter.

call him all the names under the sun facts are with him & shaw their was a feel good factor about going on you went on deepdale knowing you were going somewhere with hope & boarding the coaches to away games was a pleasure (even if it was sometimes cosgroves )

I see a lot of similarities between King Billy and hecky. Yes we have only won four games but we have also only lost four. At the minute it’s fine margins. The last three games we could have easily picked up 9 points on another day.

In the 05-06 season Billy’s record after 21 games was won 6, drew 11, lost 4.
Our record this season is won 4 drew 11 lost 6 (2 of those under different managers.)
Very similar. Bear in mind this is with a much inferior squad as well and the championship has improved a lot since back then.

I like Hecky.

Im in no way suggesting sack him for Billy. Just the nostalgia of it all.

Reality is he’s been unemployed for 10 or so years, nearly 61 as someone said and is a bit of a fruit loop.

A lot of it stems from the last time I probably enjoyed North End was then. No one wanted to play us, manager had the fans on strings, and had players willing to run through hell and back for the cause.
The Derby 0-0 away in Play Offs is still my favourite ever game. Doing the conga after the penalty miss round the stand as a 14/15 year old kid is memories ill be passing down to my kids. I genuinely thought we’d go up.
