Lindsay - We've shut shop

Lindsay - We've shut shop

To be fair to myself, I've always said that the Summer of 2011 is where it's all at.

You can slap my wrist if I'm wrong. 😀 (I've no inside info. Not since Mo arrived.)

We will surely be saying bye to Henderson, Davidson, Carter, Chris Brown and Nicholson when their contracts expire. There must be also some doubt as to whether Wayne Brown has earned his extension and Billy Jones stays. Plenty of wages freed up then, but we need to survive now too.

Am I right in thinking that Lindsay has only been here for about 7 months? Do you really think we would have got much more for Jones by cashing in back then? As it is we've had the services of a top championship defender for one more season. I'm not a "Maurice blind-faither" by the way. Just offering a bit of balance.

I'm not saying sell him, I'm saying the club should have sorted out his contract when ml came in. he hasn't even offered him one. There is absolutely no reason to lose billy but we will because our chairman is maurice lindsay.

It's good to see most pne fans on this thread are already starting to see through his bullshit. Him and trev have either accepted relegation or maurice doesn't know the game of football if he thinks we've strengthened enough.

So erm yeah we have shut up shop, unless you come back with a bid of 10 - 20% more than was previously on the table. Then quicker than a train trip to Watford Mo will be bustling the shutters back open, unlocking the door and popping the lights on while Trev gets the float ready for the till?

I'm sure that will have the Maurice blind faithers creaming their pants. The fact is, we are now resigned to losing billy on a free because of his incompetence. Anyway, don't let me get in the way of a love in. Off you go...

People still talk as if it is our club. It is down to Trevor Hemmings as to which players he sells and whether he recycles that money within the club or not. The possible £500,000 loss of revenue will only affect TH.

Ha 🙂 too right!

It is our club without us there is no club.

I can't see any of those getting extended, including Jones who I think will be off to pastures new.

How do you know he wasn't offered a new contract?

To be fair, his contract should have been sorted last season. He should never have been allowed to enter his final 12 months. Well done Derek. However, it wasn't and Lindsay should have opened negotiations earlier.

Yeah, you're right the blame lies at the feet of both of them.

I still think we need someone who can score Goals, Using wages as a reason to reject Iwelumo is ridiculous the guy was going to score the goals we need.

Perhaps, but his agent clearly rates him as premier league, which he isn't. I prefer to let someone else fund Iwelumo's gravy train.

I would definitely have let St. Ledger go. He's a great lad but a liability in defence at this level. Disorganised, positionally naive, and lightweight.
Maybe as the sweeper/free man in a 3 man defence, he is much better, however, and he is improving.

Jesus wept. How passive are Preston North End fans these days? Lindsay and Hemmings are just the same thing: a cancer on the club prone to asset stripping and the odd clanger like this.

You are actually right BUT, and it's a big BUT so I put it in capital letters for you...

...I DON'T HAVE TO LIKE IT. Hemmings and Lindsay (and Shaw) have fucked this one up. As a fan, it is my right to criticise the useless tools for doing so and voice my opinion via this forum. It also brings the pair even further down in my estimations.

Lindsay has said he hasn't offered him one (via the forum). Billy says he hasn't been offered one (via Surf and I've never known him to tell porkies on here).

Lindsay is an optimist and he is clear in his communication of what the club are doing. He tries to be clear about the goings on at the club, and all you can do is take cheap shots about minor details.
Billy Jones can't be that good if he is part of the worst defence in the league. He tries hard but that is not enough. He lacks guile like an Alexander, and has more than likely been riding a ridiculous contract from the previous chairman.
It sounds like you want a direct line to the club offices, so that they can follow your instructions. In the absence of that, you are spitting vitriole because no-one is listening to you.
Put up some cash yourself and the club may take your singular view seriously.
Lindsay has been as clear and as forthcoming as he possibly can. "bullshit" is such an easy word to use, and doesn't really convey any meaning.

I'd take Hayes, Hume and Ellington over Parkin and King any day. Plus Cort at the back, and retain the current players when they could have been sold. Not a bad window, in this current climate.
We usually ship one or two decent players this time of year. Give the club some credit for building steadily. Loan players to come.
Continue to tidy up the defence and the club could start getting points. Suggesting they're resigned to relegation basically ignores everything the club has done in the last 6 weeks to make things happen.

This is total crap. About as bad as your pro Ferguson posts got Paolo.

1) Minor details? Failing to tie up contracts for senior players isn't a minor detail, it's a chairman's job.
2) BillyJones can't be that bad if Bristol are prepared to offer 500k for a player who's nearly out of contract.
3) I don't want a direct line to the club, I just want them to do their jobs better. The second Lindsay and Hemmings do somethingpositive I'm happy to give them credit for it. Getting Brown was great, not giving him enough cash makes that a bit pointless.
4) Your striker comparison is utter bollocks. Of all the strikers you mention the best partnership was clearly Hume and Parkin.
5) I disagree the club have done enough in this window to give us a decent fighting chance.
6) In terms of me not being listened to, the fact you've quoted me shows I am, you've just chosen to disagree.

Seriously, have you read this thread? People are starting to see through the Hemmings/Lindsay reign and that isn't anything to do with what I say, it's simply because the pair of them are letting down the new manager and it's clear as fucking day.

Well obviously if that's true it's disgraceful. I suppose he may have been sounded out and the club knew that he had no intention of accepting what they could offer. However, he obviously then should have been transfer listed.
I still refuse to attack Lindsay overall however. He has done a million times more than Shaw did in an attempt to get fans through the turnstiles. He has come into a very difficult situation and has only done what Hemmings has asked of him. I just think you maybe save your vitriol for Hemmings, but that's just my humble opinion
