McAvoy sacked (Confirmed)

McAvoy sacked (Confirmed)

Having done a bit of research since it became apparent Lowe would be taking over Grant was the one that stood out to me as being an obvious target come January. Presumably you think he could hack it for us?
For me the two best players Lowe brought in have been Houghton, midfield pivot and Camara, who has a premier league engine with a league 1/2 brain.....but on his day he is unplayable....Cooper the keeper is also worth keeping tabs on but he will go Premier League I think

Grant has the brain and touch for Championship, but maybe not the fitness

My gut is DM will get an offer to join you as a squad player as a thank you for following Lowe to us.....

His last chance to play at that level and it gets him back up North.

DM might be ok for selling pies on match days, apart from that you can keep him.

Lowe Lowe Lowe,
He's magic! You know,
Always believe that we'll score,
He's magic, you know...
We believe in Ryan Lowe!

He was...He started like a train on fire until " injurygate " and had to change tactics...Couple that with players he didn't want forced on him then it's no wonder he got pissed off. And as you said he still maintained a good win rate.... And then did what he needed to do to get paid and sat tight till he was paid off and I don't blame him either.

It was our club that f**ked up Neil not the other way round IMHO...

So Much

Seems like a very decent appointment and a " Manager " too if he's allowed to do it properly with his own recruitment........... I just hope Ridsdale backs him 100% in negotiations for the players that Lowe wants but keeps his big fat nose out of talent spotting and lumbering the club with " duffers ".... I don't want to see another promising Manager " ground down " by interference.

I'd be shocked if he got another job in football management. I think you'd get all the way to non-league before you find a club that would be interested in his services.

I'd be shocked if he even applies for a managers job in the football league. I just don't think he had it in him really and I don't mean that as a dig at him at all.

Frankie will prove to be a good manager one day

I hope so, our local Post Office is a well run place and it all stems from a very tencious manager they have in place.

No reason Frankie can't emulate that and succeed in a Post Office managerial posting also, I think he'll be 1st class and have it in the bag - will certainly deliver results.

TLDR - Frankie was never a Football manager, but I wish him well in whatever else he does.

So you got your man.....and we got three quarters of a million ( or thereabouts) and promoted his number two for continuity and kept Dewsnip the DOF...so call it a score draw 🙂

I am sure there will be some salty comments online and a few extreme replies but the mood on the main Argyle board is sanguine at worst (or is that best~)

Shumacher is well liked and his loyalty will generate goodwill.....there was always a sizeable number that saw Lowe as the lead singer, and Schumacher the drummer who set the tempo.....Dewsnip was the man with contacts who has helped bring in several of the exciting young recruits like Camara and Ennis.

There is no doubt RL did a good job for us and if he had stayed I am sure we would have lauded him for it, but he always baulked at moving his family down ( and our Chairman wanted that commitment) and Shuey did. So no great shock he has moved back to be with family and at a higher level. No shame in either of those things to be fair.

So you will get a forward thinking coach, 3-5 2 and Danny Mayor in the January window.....

We will get countless rumours about him poaching Cooper the goalkeeper, Camara the midfielder and possibly Grant, (the left wing back and fellow scouser, ex Everton) and an interesting window.

Oh and you will be linked with Ryan Broom in the summer from Peterborough.

From Argyles perspective it is disruptive...but Shumacher now gets a free hit at the rest of the season and if we fall away it will be Lowes fault.

From your perspective there will be a love in for the fans, and maybe a bounce....but do bear in mind when RL has gone on a losing run they tend to be long ones....let me know if you get tired of the run towards the home end when you win 🙂

No hard feelings...I liked the football he produced and it is a precarious way of earning a living. Plus I loved Paul Gallagher when he was on loan.....

Maybe see you next season...one way or the other
Good look to you for the remainder of the season.

In respect of 'Frankie' i think its a shame for him, that it didn't work out but in all honesty it didn't. I thought he deserved the chance after the way he steered the Club to safety at the end of the Season, as it happened and as some point out, we wouldn't have gone down anyway, but that was in hindsight. For instance, Some had Rotherham going on a run, etc, etc.
However as he said himself, he never really sought a Managers position, but given the opportunity do you turn it down if you have any self esteem/confidence, no you don't.
Maybe that original mindset held him back, who knows but he had the opportunity but couldn't quite grasp it, no disgrace, hardly any of us on here are real 'high flyers'. Hopefully he can go back to being a decent coach, and in respect to his 'Postman' jibes he was actually a Royal Mail Manager, no mean feat in itself.
Having said all that i am very enthused by his replacement, seems to be a very positive appointment!

Oh god no, we don’t want him…. He wasn’t good enough when he was here 8 or 9 years ago.
He was more than good enough as described by Billy Jones at the time when he mentioned they couldn't get the ball off him in training.

Unlike most of the current players he was prepared to take on and beat defenders through sheer trickery. Rather then encouraging the lad, far too many PNE fans just like you would groan like he'll when he lost the ball. What you and other fans didn't realise was at the age of 19 He was still learning from his mistakes whereas normally players aged 25+ have nothing more to learn. At that age they are what they are. In conclusion it was fans like you who were culpable of Mayor's demise under the incompetent Westley.

How about giving us your insight on O'Reilly, Walker and Bennett, the first two who have been particularly shown nothing but contempt by Neil and then McAvoy?

I have never known any other club where fans are so hostile towards their youth players. Those very supporters normally lament "he's not the finished article." Well at 18-19 that will always be the case because they are still learning.

No doubt you are the sort of fan who was ecstatic about Mayor's replacement Holroyd who I described at the time as "Forest Gump." He ran around for 90 minutes, none stop and would achieve nothing. Arguably one of worst ever PNE players.

For what it's worth I always enjoyed watching Danny Mayor and felt he had a chance. It isn't too late for him but I have to admit that I haven't seen him play recently, except for show-reels and I wouldn't imagine we would have considered him without the earlier link to North End...

I'm delighted at the return of Lord Bonkers and really enjoying his posts. Like him, I can't understand why Walker hasn't had some time on the pitch for the first team.
