Mckenna after Brig game

Mckenna after Brig game

He wants to go, (can't blame him end of career is looming & a possibility for a big pay day to round it off).

No transfer request as then he will lose out financially on his contract with North End. (I've got no problem with that & neither should anyone else really).

He's not sure about the travelling or staying in hotels. (I work away from home a lot & staying in hotel after hotel is crap).

Mrs is not keen on uprooting the family. (Sound familiar to anyone else)

99.9% of everybody who posts on here would be contemplating all these things if we were in the same position & offered the same kind of choice.
If he goes good luck if he doesn't we will be left with a very good player, on his day, in our team.

common sense - how dare you - right down to the caveat about him being a good player. i have to say those days are becoming fewer.

its not the fact he would want to go that pisses anyone off I dont think. Who could begrudge anyone going to a potnetially better job on a significant wage increase.

Its the occasional lauding over him as being "Mr Preston" or pretending like he wouldnt even contemplate the move that gets peoples backs up I think.

Can you back that up? I suspect not. If hed wanted go years ago hed have gone, when he was at his peak.

You say coin rukles in his world. Why didnt he go then? Instead he signed contract after contract.

the simple rebuttle is noone was interested in him.

We've only ever heard rumours of interest and "reported" bids from people "ITK" (and we all know how much they know) up until now.

I dont really know the truth. He could have rebutted moves to Wigan, Sheff Utd, Derby, Palace or whoever, but we've never had concrete confirmation that bids have ever been forthcoming, certainly not ones that have been accepted and that McKenna has turned down.

Would you leave a cushy job on the off chance you might get a better offer, or would you wiat until you were actually headhunted and offered a better job?

Or, of course, you could use an agent to tout yourself around. On the face of it it certainly doesnt seem hes done this.

An agent cant force someone to pay more then your market value though, and McKennas worth to us has always been more then I would expect someone to pay, just like it is right now with Forest sniffing around.

Like I said, in reality, no one knows. Im just saying theres 2 sides to every argument, I dotn really believe (nor care) either way.

somebody told me tonight that Brian O'Neil is his agent.

can anybody confirm this

I though Brian O'Neil now did property development?
I think McKenna would go if Preston accept a bid, for a new challenge as part of a team which looks like challenging at the top.
But he wouldn't be averse to staying either.
Therefore it's not up to him.

This is true, and a director of the property company I'm involved in so you both right.........gold star for both of you!! 🙂

Spoke to our skipper after the game tonight and asked him if he was staying

" its not up me" he said

i said it must be your choice though, he just shrugged his shoulders.

i said have you handed in a transfer request

he said " who me? erm no".

got the feeling he wants away

Mr Personality as usual then - Captain Fantastico!!

McKenna - It's Up To Derek Shaw

McKenna - It's Up To Derek Shaw

Taken from off the LEP site from a North End fan:-
Sat behind Paul McKenna's mum and Dad at Brig last night and when asked whether he would be going to Forest they awered....

"It is up to Derek Shaw now"

Take from that what you will.

Obviously I can't take it as gospel as I don't even know the man or woman who has put it on 🙂

Yes. Until a couple od seasons ago he had ever had an agent, then he apponted O'Neil with the remit to tout him around other clubs: Source - preston journalist with close pne contacts

This is correct. The payday he'd get from the 3 years at Forest would see him (and his camper van) settled for pretty much life.

The reason its up to Derek is because Forest so far have not met our valuation of him, its all up to Forest and Derek now. But if he stays past August he'll stay until the end of the season because he would become PNE's highest appearance maker by the end of the season.

Berty guttygoth.

Just had it that the guy is signing for us within a couple of hours. Anyone no anything about him! I was told he was a super star in Bogmannia!😎

For all the talk about mayor etc etc Mckenna was blatantly a class above everyone on the pitch last night including all our players he just ran the show. We need to keep him.
