Confirmed Michael Smith signs - 2 year contract

I’ve defended him quite a bit but that first 15 minutes was atrocious, couldn’t hold anything.

I think the stick he gets is harsh given he does put effort in, but there’s a reason teams that have made a habit of starting Michael Smith tend to languish in the bottom half of the table

He does try and he’s obviously scored goals but either he’s gone over the hill and is rapidly descending the other side or he just doesn’t fit our system. I don’t get the defending of his performances because he’s been awful but it’s never for the want of trying.

I don’t like it when one player gets singled out for serious criticism, and try to avoid joining the pile on where possible.

But this guy truly is hopeless, to the point of me actually feeling a bit sorry for him. He’s so out of his depth.

Why on earth did we start with him? He’s an impact sub at best and nothing more.

The only impact he'll have is a reduction in season ticket sales.

Not sure exactly what he's done to deserve getting pelters tonight.. contributed more than Osmajic did in that first half and has at least been available all season.

I'm as frustrated as anyone that we didn't get someone better, but I don't think he deserves to be singled out like he has.

Pretty much everyone was appalling for the entirety of that game and once again discipline (or lack of) issues rear their ugly head - and that includes the management/coaching team.

Embarrassing night in every sense.

I think, for whatever reason, his touch has deserted him. That's the simple problem: he cannot control the ball with his feet.

Makes him useless feeding off players like Dobbin and Devine who predominantly want to play the ball to feet.

Not sure what first half you were watching but he was dog shit. Couldn’t control, had a first touch worse than Riis and for someone his size he was being bullied by players considerably smaller

Agree 100% he is simply hopeless at everything. Heaven only knows why we signed him (other than he was free)

I disagree to an extent - I've made my view clear that I don't rate him at all.

Think after tonight though, it really should be the ownership, Ridsdale etc getting all the pelters.

I felt sections of the crowd were eagerly waiting for him to make mistakes tonight so they could jeer and moan and ‘justify’ why they call him shit. He isn’t the best player by any means, but the stick he does get is way OTT.
