Sorry I have to agree. Nolan played 1 game for us at cb that I can remember v the Lashers at their spot and I thought he played far better than when Irvine used to stick him at left back.
It's a shame he couldnt get on with DF!
Anyway - great news about the two signings! If Collins leaves then that's an added bonus!!!

Great post but to be fair to Nolan he did a great job for us at left back, his preferred position or not. 🙂 A quality, versatile defender like him is really not someone we should be letting go, of all the players Ferguson has sidelined this is the most frustrating. Ferguson's ego first, PNE second seems to be the order of priorities sadly.
I hope the two new signings do well but it's all well and good Ferguson saying he wants talkers on the pitch - sadly this is to try and mask the lack of direction coming from the dugout. Yet another pop at the players from the manager then - does he ever talk to the press without slating them? 😕 🙁

Totally wrong opinion of Nolan. It wasn't Ferguson's ego that was the problem. It was NOLAN'S EGO. He couldn't take being substituted and reacted in a petulant and unprofessional manner.
As to his ability, even your hero Irvine hasn't tried to re-sign him for his league 1 side. Just not good enough and was a major reason for us losing in the playoff semis against Sheff U.
Stop being such a total prat. Once the players cross the white line, of course they need to talk to each other. If you hadn't noticed, football is a TEAM game. There is only a limited amount the management can do to influence the game from the dugout.

Looking a class act in League 2 and cutting the mustard in the Championship are poles apart. Just look at Ferguson for a clear example of that. Are you advocating buying half the Rochdale and Bournemouth teams just because they did well in League 2 last season? 😱

The guy is not, was not and never will be a left back, for one he is right footed although he left foot improved over time. Also the fact that he had Wallace in front of him who over the duration of Nolans spell at left back must have tracked back only once or twice a game!

If you were a better scout of talent, then you would be the one picking and choosing players to sign, then we would all be fucked.
Please don't misquote me, I haven't described Shumi or Hart as "top class Championship players". They are, however, good enough to be part of a successful squad at this level, particularly Hart. Hart and Jones are fairly similar in terms of ability which begs the question if Jones has a future here, why doesn't Hart? In reality, we all know he's simply leaving because the manager needed scapegoats (and lots of them) for his disastrous 24 game tenure to date. Are this Welsh donkey and Leicester reject really any better than what we already had? 😕 🙄
