Who needs an opponent when we have our fans? Why are PNE fans so quick to criticize the players? Take Riis, for example. He often faces criticism for not contributing enough, but he has actually been instructed by the coach to stay away from ball possession. Instead, he is supposed to stretch the play by making runs in behind.

It's easy to judge from the sidelines, but many forget that they don't always understand the tactical considerations behind it. Let's try to be more positive.

All 5 of your posts have been about Emil and some perception our fans don't like him.

Emil has been made very welcome since arriving and the fans haven't given him any more stick than anyone else.

I suspect you may be slighlty biased.

And just happens to know for certain what the manager is telling him to do

Relative, best mate or freaky stalker?

How do you know what he's been told to do by the coaches?
He does get criticism, but so do all the other players when they're out of form, just look at Whiteman at the moment, he got a great reception yesterday when he went off, if he can get back to the form we saw from him pre-injury, then he wont be getting criticised for looking uninterested

I don't judge from the sidelines. I sit on the Town End, so I judge from closer to the byline

(For the record, thought Riis looked a lot better when Keane was next to him, more service and smaller gap between midfield and attack. Better player when he has the support)

To be fair to the OP, Riis does get weird criticism from the #alwaysblameRiis types, especially the ones who snoop the dressing room for inside gossip from sources who can never be revealed but must always be believed without question.

But no doubt because Riis scored yesterday, even those posters have been pretty silent, so the timing of this thread is a bit odd.

Those people with gossip tend to go quiet when they’re shown to be wrong about something.

Supporters of football clubs will always talk and discuss and comment on their teams players, the players playing for the club they support.
Just look at thie Forum there are threads at present about Freddie Woodman,Jordan Storey and Thor.
I don't think Emil receives any more or any less criticism or praise than other players.
Hope the goal yesterday helps to build his confidence and he starts hitting the back of the onion bag on a regular basis, was a great goal and received plenty of positive comments and praise for scoring .
