I don’t know how true it is as it’s coming mainly from the Bradford end but it’s possible that it’s not just Lucketti coming over with Grezza.
I would suspect that if Murphy and Co are going to be replaced it will be with other coaches currently working at other clubs.

I can't get my head around that we have gone from Robbie Keane, stevie Gerrard, Steve Cooper, Sean Dyche, carlos Corboran to then asking permission to approach Graham Alexander?

A great player for us no doubt and i still learning his trade as a manager, he might have Bradford sat at the top of League 1 but he has been fired at a few previous jobs ie Salford, Motherwell, Fleetwood - not huge clubs these with high expectations.

I think he is certainly one for the future if he does well but at the moment we need someone to sort out the mess that we are in and it is a mess. The defence and striking departments are not up to the task of keeping us up and its a slippery pole that GA will be grabbing if he is appointed as there is no window other than loans for him to get players in and players out.

I hope I am proved wrong but it appears to be once again the cheap option, surely if Mr Zedan is taking over then he would have had a say in the appointment and perhaps his team would have someone in mind.

As I say i hope I am wrong but this does not bode well.
I think reason we moved to Alexander was because the five managers mentioned above either politely refused or werent even approached for the job.It was a pipe dream that managers of that quality would want the PNE job.

You do know Grezza has managed hundreds and hundreds of games and is 55 in a week or so? He isn't one for the future, he isn't learning his trade. There's a good chance he see's this as his peak.
Indeed he has been a manager for the best part of 15 years and Bradford is his 6th club excluding his joint caretaker appointment with us in 2011.

The guy has almost 1000 games as a player including many at Prem level.

He has worked under some decent managers who he should have learnt a bit.

He has over 600 games as a manager, which says he has served his apprenticship.

If he hadn't played for us and was someone with his League one team at the top of the league many more would be saying this guy needs a chance.

Thanks for the honest thoughts guys. The article from our side that announced today’s the day said there’s been plenty of applicants. Hopefully it’s not Hecky.

We need to get this right and prove that the club can live without Alexander, it’d be awful if this move is a bad one that ruins both parties - his character as a manager never came across as emotion over rationality, but here we are.

Of course you can absolutely see why the move has happened, how the club means so much to him and vice versa, but he’s put a lot on the line here!

Ey up everyone, me again. Thanks for the (mostly 😉) kind words around my messages the other night. Pesky message limit cut me off.

Word on our end, as someone’s already said, is that club announcements will be today (Monday), and you’ll get GA and CL, but our training will be done by Truman and Doyle, so no risk of them coming.

Pretty downbeat about it all to be honest, it feels like a big risk to leave Bradford, but GA always spoke about ambition and aiming upwards etc.

Just popped in to say that the only name we’ve got so far from reliable sources is Heckingbottom. Do with that as you will, but for me it’s a manager who’s had about 20 League One games so not sure on that one.

Any questions on GA that weren’t answered before I’ll try to answer. If there’s anything you could say to bring a positive to the prospect of Hecky then I’d welcome it - I don’t think I’ve heard anything exciting so far.

Good luck for the rest of the season 🙂
As usual when a manager is sacked due to poor performance there’s a bit of a pile on.

When you look at his record it’s hard to argue with a lot of what have people said - we didn’t win very many games and despite the narrative of him being a defensive manager, especially recently, we were incredibly easy to play against.

There were times where we did threaten to be a good team but it never really materialised and the good performances were either in isolation or didn’t follow with 3 points.

The biggest complement I can give him is he appears well liked and even despite his atrocious record with us, the fans never really got on his back until the very end.

I think he’d be a good appointment for you alongside McCall to galvanise the fans and he proved he was capable of steadying a ship with us when he first came in.

Hecky was a good choice for us at the time because we needed a grown up after Ryan Lowe.
I honestly thought he'd cracked it when we were top four in January and my honest belief is that something went on internally when he wasn't able to add to that squad and have a real go. Saying that, no manager gets everything they want, and if he threw his toys out of the pram then he's got what was always going to happen.
Poor disciplinary record (read the transcript of what happened at Watford pre match with the ref), persistence with systems when they're clearly not working, a "never my fault" attitude. The biggest worry for me is that I can't think of a single player we owned who he actually improved, and many went backwards.
What was the pre-match starter at Watford

Last line, one of the best I've seen in this discussion.

I have a strong suspicion you will not appoint Paul H. It’s a big thing for the Bradford board to manage the GA exit - especially after the start you’ve had and the players and fans expectations. It’s quite another to manage the blow-back if you appoint a failed manager from the related club. That could turn toxic very quickly . There are far better candidates to chose from. All the best in this selection end for the rest of the season. Hope to see you with us in the Championship next year

If GA keeps us up, he’ll of already achieved a huge amount and raised his stock.

Do I think he can make us take that ‘next step’? No.

Do I think the club is about 15 steps back from the squad/ Club position under AN?Yes.

So any progress is positive in my eyes.

We’ll be at Millwall willing on the fresh start 👍🏻

Yes. If there was ever a player who - when he left us - we all wanted to come back as manager, it was Graham Alexander.

600 games later, he is more than ready. Impressive win percentage. Plenty of time to learn from mistakes and times when things didn't go according to plan.

Most of our managers come in with a wave of optimism before the shit show grinds them down. If Alexander doesn't already know about the strategy-absent shit show, no one does. He comes into it with his eyes open.

Negatives? If he wasn't top of League 1 (essentially a couple of wins in it at this early stage), would he even be considered? And this appointment feels like the takeover isn't happening. Not saying it isn't. It just feels like it.

That being said, the stars have aligned for Grezza. We know what this club means to him. And him to us. This is his time.

Let's hope his arrival means the stars align for North End too.

So is today finally going to be the day when a new era begins in the continuing saga of Preston North End? There seems to a strong possibility it will be but until something is officially announced I will make no comment. I am actually off this afternoon to look at the Bayeux Tapestry at the British Museum though I daresay as I contemplate the events that have shaped the history of Britain for nearly the last thousand years a bit of me will be preoccupied with the future of this football club.
